Charming cottage in North Park

We love our cottage but of course our opinion is biased. Please click on 'Reviews' for unbiased opinions.
That said... North Park is a lively and fun community. Walk to hip restaurants, cafes, wine bars, brew pubs, shops and fitness centers. We are 2 blocks and a 5 minute walk to Balboa Park's Morley Field where you will find hiking and running trails, a community pool, tennis, golf, an athletic complex, picnic areas, bike track, bocci court, tiny tots play area, and more. A bit farther into the park are the zoo and many museums -- still walking distance or a short ride. You will be 5-10 minutes from downtown hot spots -- Gaslamp, Seaport Village, Little Italy, Convention Center. Only 10 minutes to Coronado Island, a world class destination with beautiful, expansive white sand beaches. Seaworld is about 15 minutes via nearby highway, and easy access to the San Diego Zoo, museums and literally dozens of local restaurants and bars. Balboa Park measuring approximately 1.5 x 1.5 miles and 1200 acres in size, it is one of the largest urban parks in the country and is 2 blocks away.

Built in 1911, our 105 year old stable has been converted to a charming and comfortable 2 bedroom cottage complete with all the amenities of home.
Here are just a few:
Full kitchen with all the utensils needed to prepare a gourmet meal. Heated tile floors in the bathroom and a new walk in shower, hair dryer, quality shampoo and body wash, plenty of plush towels. Queen-size bed with memory foam mattress top (you will this see mentioned in our guest reviews.) Twin bed in the back bedroom and a full open closet, with a separate laundry room with front load washer and dryer and detergents. Broadband internet access with WIFI and a printer/scanner. HD Cable TV, Blu-ray player, Netflix, Pandora web browser & Bose Speaker to play your music from your iPhone, and more. Private fenced in patio with stainless steel 3-burner BBQ where you can relax after the day's explorations with a glass of wine, while being soothed by the rippling sounds of a water fountain that continually flows.
There are endless amazing restaurants in San Diego, but if you find you want to cook in one night, we have an herb garden full of rosemary, sage and thyme as well a beautiful lemon tree outside the cottage, there for your pleasure in picking fresh herbs for your culinary delights.

Our neighborhood is one of the most desired in North Park and is comprised of many welcoming and friendly neighbors and is quiet, yet a short walk to lively nightlife. You also have ample street parking in front of the cottage.

This was a lovely respite for us from the Nevada heat and a perfect place to relax. We loved the up-to-date kitchen and bathroom, the high quality linens, the large washer and dryer, and the furnishings and bright decor. The private outdoor patio provided grilling and dining opportunities, as well as lounging while listening to the continual fountain in the owners' yard. It is worth sharing that there is a long hallway to the bedroom with the twin bed and that the air conditioner is at the other end of the hallway so that room, which also has a small window. was harder to cool. Also the bathroom is accessible only by walking through the bedroom with the queen bad. This was not a problem for us at all but might be if the occupants are not family or close friends. All in all, you can't go wrong staying in this cute place and accessing all the nearby restaurants. We will return in the future.

Home with a lemon tree!

We stayed for only 2 nights and wish we stayed in San Diego longer. The house was perfect for me, my husband, and my daughter. She was sooo excited there was a lemon tree! We asked if we could pick some and made lemonade! Overly a great home and location in San Diego.

The cottage was lovely. We visted San Diego Zoo, Silver Strand State Beach, Eco Glo pedal boats, San Juan Capistrano. Communications w/the host were excellent. We took advantage of food recommendations in the binder left inside the cottage. Very convenient for airport access.

A beautiful little cottage!

A small cottage, it’s great for a small family! I went with my mom, it had everything we needed plus more honestly. They provided beach supplies and umbrellas in case it rained (thankfully didn’t need that) but, it was very convenient had we needed it. Betsy and Carly are very nice and welcoming folks! The kitchen had anything and everything you needed including a blender for smoothies and such. Also a microwave and a very decent sized refrigerator for cold items. It was in a GREAT location ver close to the zoo, downtown, beach, and a park! The neighborhood was also very quiet especially for being pretty close to the airport which I was surprised about! I suggest anybody to go there if you have a small family 1-2 kids as there’s a twin bed in one room and couch. If you had a baby and brought something for them to sleep in I could easily see there being room by the master bed (or queen sized bed), the beds in general were very comfy and clean! And had if you need to wash anything they provided a laundry room with everything you needed as well and there was an instruction book for utilities and check out that was very clear and easy to read! Highly suggested cottage for a small stay or even a week or two!

We arrived late morning. The cottage was warm, cozy, spotless and homey. Outside was so tranquil and inviting. Decor and was comfy. You felt like you were in another world to totally relax. Totally spot on everything. Close to everything and there is a guidebook on the sights to see. Our purpose was to say farewell to my husband's brother and sister in law at the Veterans cemetery near by. So coming home made our day so much better. Thank you!!

The house was absolutely perfect in EVERY way! With our son serving a church mission, we are down to just three of us and this couldn't have been any better. The beds were SO COMFY!! So nice to have a great bed after s long day of playing. The house was super clean, well stocked with everything we needed. One of our favorite things was the shampoo, conditioner and soap!!! The dispenser was perfect, but the shampoo/conditioner made my hair so soft and all of it smelled so good. I wanted to bring it home with me-- definitely need to find out what it is. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook and the grill was perfect. We made burgers one night. There were beach towels, beach chairs and boogie boards so we didn't have to rent them. Washer and dryer so we came home with all clean clothes and could wash beach towels in between beach days. The house is in North Park so it's SO close to everything. Petco Park, beaches, Balboa Park... this location is a must. Communication was fast and the owner is on site and so sweet. You'll love this charming cottage -- don't hesitate to stay here!!!

We walked into this cottage and immediately noticed how clean it was! Great location - VERY short drive to the San Diego Zoo, several beaches, shops, restaurants, and walking distance to a small park! Most importantly, we felt safe- very kind neighbors. Friendly dogs everywhere we went, and we can't forget to mention the neighborhood kitty, Oliver, that my daughter fell in love with! Thank you for helping make this first family trip of ours such a great experience!

Incredible property and neighborhood!

Could not say enough good things! The cottage was perfect for my family - my husband and infant daughter. The property was clean and looked exactly like the photos. The neighborhood was quiet with amazing food and coffee shops just a couple blocks away. North Park as home base was perfect for exploring Coranado, downtown and Balboa Park. We will be staying here again!
