AVOID - Backpaper hostel not hotel

This is not by any stretch of the imagination a hotel. It would be generous to describe it as a tired student hall of residence or a cheap backpaper's hostel that has seen better days. The room is stark and very poorly equipped. Advertised for 'self catering' there were no amenities whatsover provided - no crockery or cutlery, no cooking utensils, not even a mug. There was no hair dryer. But worse than the spartan accommodation, the 'curtains' were little more than thin sheets and not all the windows were fully covered. After I complained, some basic kitchen equipment and a hair dryer was provided and the curtains were replaced with something just about adequate. However, as shown in the pictures, one of the windows cannot be covered as there is no mounting rail. The sun rises bright and early in Finland so sleep under these conditions is difficult. I was forced to forage for some black refuse bin liners and create my own black out covering. All this for the ridiculous charge of €239 per night - for accommodation that would have been over-priced at €50. The hotel - who should be ashamed of themselves for this blatant price-gouging - apologised and we checked out early (one night refunded) and lost one day in this lovely town. It was the Opera Season which explains the cynical approach. Had we not had tickets for 2 performances we would have never have stayed a single night. AVOID! PS:breakfast is just about adequate in quantity, very average in quality & OJ highly dilute!
These are the 'improved' curtains - window cannot be curtained in any way...
...unless you find some black bin liners and cut them up to provide cover against the early morning summer sun.

Opiskelija-asunnosta ei voi paljoa odottaa, mutta oli helteellä järkyttävän kuuma ilman tuuletinta. Vessanpönttö oli pesemättä ja haisi! Se oli kiva, että pääsi hotellin hyvälle aamiaiselle ja ilmaiseksi kylpylään. Henkilökunta oli mukavaa ja avuliasta, ja saimme pyytämättä isomman 2 huomeen asunnon.

Yöpyminen sujui kohtuullisen hyvin. Hotellimajoitukselta toivoo kuitenkin nykyään esim. televisiota sekä ruokailuvälineitä ja/tai teen keittomahdollisuutta. Lisäksi teimme majoittumisen loppuvaiheessa ikävän huomion. Asunnon siisteydestä huolimatta pieniä muurahaisia liikkui etenkin keittiö- ja eteistilan seinien vierustoilla sekä kylpyhuoneenkin puolella. Tätä ei voi hyväksyä.

Köyhänmiehen majoitus - Vuorilinna huoneistohotel

Sijainti erinomainen, vain muutama minuutti kauppatorille. Majoitus opiskelija-asunnossa josta tehty kesäksi huoneistohotelli. Kahden hengen huone pienehkö. Kesäkuumalla huone todella kuuma, oma tuuletin kannattaa ottaa mukaan, ei ilmastointia huoneissa. Huoneessa pieni keittotila, jossa uuni ja vedenkeitin, jääkaappi mutta ei mikroa. Ei ruuanvalmistusvälineitä. Omat kertakäyttöruokailuvälineet mukaan. Aamupala vanhalla kasinolla oli erittäin hyvä, hintaa kuuluu myös päärakennuksen kylpyläpalvelut joita kannattaa käyttää. Saimme huoneen oopperakauden loppupuolella kohtalaisen edullisesti (149e/yö). Tuota enempää majoituksesta ei kannata edes maksaa. Asiakaspalvelu oli erittäin ystävällistä savolaiseen tapaan. Talo tarjotaa pyyhkeet ja pienet sampoo pullot, eli oma sampoopullo mukaan. Alue rauhallista ja yönsä sai nukkua rauhassa. Sänky ja tyyny riittävän laadukas. Täkki aivan liikaa kesäkuumalla, nukuimme pelkällä lakanalla ja laitoimme täkit kaappiin.

Vuorilinna on tuttu vuosien varrelta ja on hyvä meidän tarpeisiin. Mutta joka vuosi huomio kiinnittyy hotellipuolen ravintolan nuhruisuuteen ja epäsiisteyteen. Jotain pitäisi tehdä. Tuolien päälliset ovat silminnähden likaiset, kuluneet ja rasvatahraiset. Oliko yksi ikkuna jäänyt pesemättä, kun ei oikein nähnyt ulos, oli kuulemma keväällä pesry. Olen myös seurannut muutaman vuoden takapäädyn sälekaihdin repsottaa kuin Kaurismäen elokuvassa, myös anopinkielet vaatisi hieman huolenpitoa, lehtiä repsottaa ja roikkuu. Tarloilu ja pöytien siisteys ovat ok, mutta yleisnäkymä on masentava. Muutosta odotellessa.

Sängyt hyvät ja siistit, Itse huoneisto eritoten vanhat muovimattolattiat aika kuluneet, kylppärissä lauarin lasitus halkeillut ym pientä. Yöpymistä varten kosmeettisista asioista huolimatta ihan OK paikka. Palvelu muuten hyvää, mutta soitin seuraavana päivänä kysyäkseni oliko siistijät löytäneet mun paikalle jäänyttä puhelimen laturia. Asia luvattiin tarkistaa ja mulle soittaa takaisin seuraavana päivänä, mutta soittoa ei koskaan kuulunut. Aamiainen perus hotelliaamiainen, vähän harmitti kun siihen ei ollut lisätty mitään Savonlinnalle ominaista juttua, niitä kun kaupungista kuitenkin löytyisi. Olis se pikkujuttu mikä matkailijalle jättäisi hyvän mielen ja saisi paikan eroamaan muista.

Lattialla pölypalloja, ikkunoissa hämähäkin verkkoja. Tuuletusikkuna ei mennyt kiinni, kahva jumissa / tms??!! Toisen huoneen verhot ommeltu yhteen. Huoneissa erilainen kalustus. Jalkalamppu vaati "remonttitaitoista" asentajaa, jotta oli turvallinen käyttää. Positiivinen yllätys: pyyhkeet siistit ja vuoteilla pienet pullot nestesaippuaa ja hoitoainetta.

Pari yötä kimppakämpässä

Huone on opiskelija-asuntolan kimppakämppä. Sängyt oli hyvät ja siistiä oli, mutta eihän tätä nyt ihan hotelliin voi verrata. Olin yksin lasten kanssa reissussa joten siirsimme toisen makkarin patjan toiseen, ettei kukaan joudu nukkumaan yksin.
