Had to book overnight at the last minute, my husband had an unexpected medical issue and we needed a place close to the hospital for the evening. We arrived at the property at 11:15 pm, and even thought the reception area was closed, the staff had left instructions addressed to me attached to the front door to the lobby. My room was clean, it was a little on the warm side even after opening the windows, but at that point I was grateful to just have a place for the night. The breakfast, although not free, was delicious and everything was very fresh. Fortunately we were able to continue our trip the next morning after my husband was discharged, but I will remember this lodge for our next trip to Iceland.

We stayed for two nights and had a truly enjoyable experience. The location is perfect for exploring both the Golden Circle and the southern coast—making it an ideal base for day trips. The peaceful surroundings, complete with open fields and horses grazing nearby, added a special charm to our stay. The hotel itself is very quiet, which made for restful nights in the incredibly comfortable beds. One of the highlights was the warm and welcoming staff. Even though we arrived late—after the restaurant had already closed—they still prepared food for us, which we really appreciated. The only minor downside was the size of the bathroom—it was quite small. However, this didn’t detract much from the overall experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a calm and cozy place in a stunning location!

This was a perfectly acceptable place for the night. It is all new, very clean, and comfortable. The rooms are a one room studio style arrangement with a little desk to one side and an enclosed bathroom. It is all completely functional, however, the space is tight. There is a small common room right at the entrance to the building, which can seat about 5 people.

The room was was small, walls were paper thin. Could hear the people in another room/ apartment talking/swearing. Children were hollering and pounding on their door. Bed linens were dirty and flies were in the room. They did upgraded us to another room,but that was not much better. Well off the main road. We ended up leaving. Would not recommend.

We enjoyed our stay here. Although it was nothing fancy, it was clean and had everything you needed. The staff was extremely friendly. The best part was the horses and foals right outside your doorstep.

Our stay at Guesthouse Vatnsholt was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, Phillip welcomed us with such warmth and cheerfulness—his hospitality truly made us feel at home. Highlights of our stay: - Impeccable Cleanliness:Our room was spotless, with fresh sheets and a full set of towels (bath, hand, and face towels). The attention to detail was impressive! - Thoughtful Amenities: We loved the provided shower gel/shampoo, hair dryer, and especially the complimentary eye masks and slippers — a cozy touch we didn’t expect! - Tranquil Atmosphere: The rooms were very quiet, ensuring a restful sleep after days of exploring Iceland’s beauty. - Charming Surroundings: Arriving to a scene of Icelandic horses grazing in the open field right outside the property was magical—a postcard-worthy view! - Great Facilities: The community room was perfect for relaxing, and the on-site restaurant offered delicious meals, and free coffee/choco. Our one night stay in Vantsholt was very nice and calm. Staff was very friendly. Common room was great for just sit, relax and enjoy coffee or tea which were free. Rooms were clean with very nice view to the nature.

A clean, homey stay. The food in the restaurant is amazing (kudos to the chef!) and the rooms feel like entering a good childhood memory. The staff is surprisingly young and sweet. Highly recommend.
