Sydney experience

We booked Shangri La on this stay based on our wonderful experience the previous stays in other countries. The room was great but I think the service was a little disappointing. I had made coffee and the second day when I got back from the tour the coffee machine was not cleaned and the cups were not replaced . Also I had flown in from far and sent a request asking if I was able to check in a few hours earlier . When I got in I had to wait for check in time . After a 22 hr flight I was exhausted and asked if there was any way to get a room earlier and was told only if I paid 80$ extra . I think some empathy would have been great . The room is ready already , getting extra money just to give a key few hours early in my thoughts did not seem right. Because we check out early we do not get a refund so same way we would hope for a little care especially when there is a room already available and you can see the customer has a valid reason for the ask. Overall the hotel was great. Food was great.

Overall disappointed by the stay. Rooms need an update. Used concierge service which was good and bad. There was no communication about availability of restaurant/bar one night and forced to find another location. Concierge sent us to a closed restaurant. Restaurant is overrated - view is excellent but service was disappointing and food quality also. 4 seasons is a better hotel for similar price.

Wouldn’t recommend for special occasions

It was our honeymoon coming straight from the wedding reception and checking in at around 1:30am, service staff was nice and informed us that there is a honeymoon pack to be delivered the following day for us to go through. We get woken up at 10ish am with the team ready to clean the room up which I told them to return later, the fact check out is from 11am and we had 2 x nights stay it was quite poor from the hotel. The honeymoon pack did not turn up either. Besides the view, will probably not stay here again as it really was a disappointing experience overall.
