Retro Taupo retreat

A well positioned room on the lakefront side of the property. Surprisingly quiet despite road between property and lake. A very comfortable bed. Sub $200 price appropriate for age and condition - as tidy as practicable for age. Would stay again.

The property is quite old but is well maintained and the rooms are very clean. The location is great and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was convenient to the room. Would recommend this property for a relaxed stay.

When we arrived at the property hte room we were given smelt really bad .... not just dirty but real bad. We asked to be moved and were told they were full and because it was a long weekend we could leave and get a refund. They could easily re-rent the room. Given the weekend we decided to stay. To give the motel some credit they shifed to the room next door which was much better, however the poor people that arrived after us got our old room. Watch out for pricing ... this motel charge us double the standard rate because of the events on around the area. Room was clean, if you are in need of a dark room at night this is not the motel for you ... windows with no blinds (only frosted glass) made for a very bright room even at night. Overall a very poor experience and one we will not return to ever.

We been to spend a night and found room with full of mosquitoes on the ceiling, die mosquitoes on the bed/pillows. Bathroom wall is full of mosquitoes. Terrible experience. It`s worst ever room I have been too. Very Very low standards. I reached Taupo late night and have no options to change it. I have to wake full night to look after kids that mosquitoes not bit them around. This should has to report to local Council to look into the hygiene standards of this Inn. Never ever recommend anyone to stay here.

Our room was situated right behind a bar and restaurant that stayed open till midnight and was extremely noisy till late into the night. When I approached the motel manager he was rude and accused me of moaning about things as if it was something you should just put up with paying well over $200 per night Do not stay there
