Owner cancelled on us the day of arrival!!

our reservation was accepted and all payments made. I made several email contacts to gain property access details. I finally called the owner the morning of check-in, before our train arrived into Venice, to arrange access to the property and was told that the apartment was already being occupied. My family and I were left stranded and left to scramble around for last minute accommodations. Nearly impossible....Had to resort to a one room B&B dump...only option. No considerations were made, just a small sorry. Thanks VRBO and Maria
