Great nature, outdated hotel

Surroundings of the manor are amazing but the rooms thensleves are very outdated and the hotel with its lack of amenities is more of a 3 star hotel at best. Breakfast was ok.

Really disappointed: Found a piece of iron in my breakfast food but the personnel did not understand my concern (sketchy English). Cleanliness of the room was far from perfect (forgotten dirty T-shirt from a previous guest and half extra empty shampoo bottle on the floor). On the bright side : Nice building, nice park, decent food. Regarding social distancing: rules are written down but nobody cares.

This property gets very mixed reviews from me. Check in was very easy and the receptionist was very informative. However, when we got to our room, which was located in an out-building of the manor, it had a horrible stench. We called reception to report this and ask for another room and were told there wasn’t another room available. They sent housekeeping to examine the issue and housekeeping was unable to find a source. This all occurred with great difficulty because the housekeeping staff did not speak any English and I did not speak fluent Russian or Estonian. After much back-and-forth with reception, including us re-loading our bags in our vehicle and driving back to the main manor house, we were finally given another room. This was a satisfactory resolution to the problem, but I felt that we had been given inaccurate information when they told us initially there was not another room available. This was especially frustrating because we checked in at the dinner hour and spent roughly an hour trying to resolve this problem instead of enjoying our evening. This property bills themselves as a luxury resort, but a real luxury resort would have sent someone with a key who could fix the problem and not made us go through so many steps to get a room without a bad smell. On a positive note, the breakfast that was included as part of the room price was absolutely fabulous with a wide variety of choices. And, once settled, our room was very comfortable.

Very pretty location and hotel

The hotel is lovely, set in very large park like area with walks available and a large pond. Our room in the "laundry" building was very comfortable. There is no AC so windows need to be open. But being on the main floor, people are walking by frequently. We had a coffee maker & kettle but they left little coffee or tea. You need to make advance reservation for the main dining room which is on the 2nd floor of the main building and beautiful. They also have a tavern but the menu is unusual. Breakfast was wonderful.

Wish I could have stayed longer

Great last minute booking. Beautiful grounds to explore with lots of history. Breakfast included. Lots of choice. Had a fabulous meal in the restaurant. Pricey but good for a one off treat. Wish we could have stayed longer. Staff were excellent.

Quiet and beautiful location; make sure to walk around the park and the lovely foot bridges. Driving to and from the place is a relaxing experience. Great breakfast and dinner. Not so great shower: the bath tub requires you to nearly climb a mountain and there is no shower curtain. Receptionist on the first night looked inexperienced and had some trouble understanding basic English. Restaurant staff during dinner did not oversee the room and getting their attention was confined to the very few times they entered the restaurant. There is no elevator, so don't bring in heavy luggage unless you're willing to carry it yourself upstairs. Beds are too soft for me personally.

Good place to stay if venturing beyond Tallinn

Quite a quirky experience... This is very much an Estonian heritage hotel, forming part of a vast historical manor and grounds. It's in the process of being entirely renovated and this will no doubt take some years. The grounds are spectacular, with lots of different facets to them, but I guess most people will come for forest walks, cycling, etc. We had a Zen room in the main building and felt that it was a good choice - no need to wrap up warm to come across to breakfast and it was a nice, large comfortable room, if not super luxurious. The service was a bit hit and miss, but perfectly friendly. The main 'La Boheme' restaurant is billed as fine dining, but the room lacks atmosphere and the prices for wine is over the top. The food was good, though. Much less expensive and less formal are meals in the lobby bar, which we found perfectly adequate and well presented. Overall, if you are going to stay in this part of Estonia, we would say that Vihula Manor is a good choice and certainly excellent value for money.

Taint of ktisch! Minor but important meaning.

My wife and myself were woken up at 03:00am with huge sound of emergency alarm while we stayed overnight. Both of us got out of the bilding in the early morning. It was found out false to our relief. But, there was no explanation/apology from management at all, which was a dissapointment. I wonder what happened if it was in the winter. We enjoyed stay in general, but it was an important management FAIL, hoping you take some good measures.

Upea kartano rakennuksineen ja ympäristöineen. Huone oli iso ja hieno, parisänky hyvä, mutta lapsen lisävuoteessa petauspatja olisi ollut paikallaan. Kiva kylpylä ja museoita, joissa sai käydä ilmaiseksi. Myös jotain eläimiä oli farmilla nähtävissä. Pelasimme myös kierroksen mini golfia, mutta kenttä olisi kaivannut kunnostamista. Aamupalan lisäksi illallisilla testattiin molemmat ravintolat. Ruoka keskivertoa, olisin ehkä odottanut enemmän.
