2/10 Terrible

I’ve stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler multiple times, and the experience has consistently declined. This trip was particularly frustrating and a complete waste of my time.
Check-in was 40 minutes late, setting the tone for the stay. My original room had a broken TV, and I wasn’t upgraded until the following day—meaning I spent an entire night dealing with the issue. When I finally received the upgrade, the new room also had a broken TV, and maintenance couldn’t resolve the problem until Monday, long after my stay. The upgraded room also lacked basic amenities like coffee and robes, and there was dust on the tables—what exactly are the staff doing?
Service was a nightmare. It took 90 minutes to have a single plate delivered to my room. Despite requesting the sofa bed to be made up, it wasn’t done the first time, requiring another follow-up. I was offered a free meal as compensation, but it was subpar—hardly making up for the frustration.
To compensate, they also offered me a free room for a future stay, but since I booked through Expedia, I wasn’t able to receive any actual money back. Frankly, after three bad stays in a row, I’m not sure I even want to come back, so the free room is of little value to me.
In total, I wasted over six hours dealing with these issues—at my billing rate of $400 an hour, that’s a significant loss of time and money that no one is reimbursing me for. An “upgraded experience” should not create more stress on vacation, especially at $1,000
