I chose this hotel based on positive reviews, but unfortunately, the negative ones felt closer to our reality. The experience was off from the start, with a rude and condescending receptionist, and a generally unwelcoming front desk staff. They didn’t smile or greet us during our stay, making every interaction feel cold. The breakfast staff was no better—no acknowledgment, just a quick request for our room number, then back to chatting among themselves. The lack of warmth was striking. The room seemed clean at first, but had a persistent musty smell that lingered throughout our stay. The same odor filled the hallways and elevators, though the lobby smelled fine, highlighting the lack of upkeep elsewhere. Additionally, poor soundproofing meant we could hear everything—hallway noise, neighbors, and footsteps above us—making it hard to rest. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, with repetitive, bland food and limited options. However, a few staff members stood out. The housekeeper was incredibly kind, and the doormen were always helpful. The hotel’s location, near a mall and attractions, was a plus. Overall, the hotel has potential but needs significant improvements in staff attitude, hospitality, and guest experience.

The hotel was okay. Nothing special. The room was spacious and had good amenities, including the free items in the mini-bar (cans of soft drink, water and some noodle soup cups). However, as the halls are bare and the floors areall tile, it can be very noisy by other guests.

Bangkok is very safe. If you ever decide to go, I highly recommend staying at the Mandarin Hotel Managed by Centre Point. It’s right in the heart of the city, but far from the boisterous areas. I love the neighborhood - it’s so safe for solo female travelers. There’s a mall across the street (Samyan Mitrtown) with a grocery store and a Starbucks that’s open 23/7. Last night, I woke up from a nap at 9:30 p.m., walked to the mall, and read my Bible. I didn’t go back to the hotel until 1:30 in the morning. That’s how safe it is! I even saw another woman staying at the Mandarin walking to the grocery store to buy some cherries and shampoo. We crossed the street at the same time 😄. People here are very kind and helpful. I suggest doing the hop-on, hop-off bus tour. First, do a full round without getting off, just to see which areas you’d like to explore. I actually did it twice 😄. Another great thing about the Mandarin Hotel: it’s the third stop on the hop-on hop-off route, so you can easily hop off right in front of the hotel when you’re tired. I did just that 😄.

The staff was wonderful and the hotel was in a good location to the subway and mall. The only reason why they did not get a 5/5 is that my bathroom sink did not drain very well. It clogs so we had to wait for the water to drain down. The only other negative factor was our air conditioner stalled and locked up on two of our 8 night stays in our kids’ room. It was stuffy and uncomfortable. Otherwise, our assigned room staff was very thoughtful to put happy birthday decorations for our daughter’s birthday and a cake which made her very happy. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
