Stayed at/in the Krung Thep Wing. It's next door to the Shang (where dining, hairstyling, gym, tailors are located). Minimal staffing at ground floor Reception ("Hello, could I change some dollars into Baht please?" .....(Polite reply, pointing to main entrance " the Money Changer is located down the street out there near the shops". (If you are mobility-impaired, give the KT Wing a miss!) Thinking about the stay, the KT Wing is 'tired' - it could do with some sprucing-up when compared to the Shangri-La.

I was in the Krungthep wing. The rooms really need to be updated. Also, they have metal detectors you have to walk through to get in the building, which is weird. Even weirder, no one is paying attention to them. Everyone sets off the alarm, hut no one is ever stopped. Its a little ridiculous. The staff is first rate, very friendly and attentive.

The Shangri-La has long been a grande dame of Bangkok luxury hotels and it’s easy to see why. Although the interiors may be a little 1980’s dated, everything is of the highest level of comfort and excellence, from the comfortable rooms to the wonderful staff. And the hotel is so clean it gleams. It would be great if they had their own boat, to avoid the delays and inconveniences of getting across the river, but otherwise no complaint.

The Lobby was lovely, bright and spacious. The rooms were extremely dated and our particular room was far from the central hotel. We were disappointed with our room and its lack modernity even in respect of basic electrical connections and toiletries provided.

Great hotel could do with refresh.

Hotel is in a nice position overlooking river and it is extremely good to be able to open a window onto the balcony. Service and staff were excellent. Concierge services very good. The place is spotlessly clean but overall the hotel decor could do with a refresh to bring it into the 21st century.

We had a fantastic time at the Shangri-La in Bangkok. There were four of us, so we booked an executive suite, which also gave us access to the private lounge. This was really convenient because they had a great selection of food, and the staff were always very hospitable and welcoming. I felt very safe in the hotel.
