The layout of the hotel is rather unconventional (getting to our room involved some stairs, 2 different lifts and a bit of a walk!) but our room was spacious and comfortable, with the slight caveat that our shower was terrible. It severely lacked power and the rainfall shower head didn’t work at all. For two women with long hair this wasn’t ideal and for that reason I am glad we only stayed for 2 nights. We found the location of the hotel very convenient, quiet and safe. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that. There was free tea, coffee and hot chocolate available between 11am and 9pm.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel! The room was exceptional and the breakfast was fantastic! The location is perfect! There were just a couple of smaller problems such as empty shampoo bottle in shower and very small beds. Also, the staff is efficient and helpful but not friendly or welcoming.

A lovely hotel near Markplatz

An excellent place to spend the night. A short walk – but a walk that includes an 83-step stairs – between the hotel and Marktplatz, and a few more short blocks to the Rhine. The sustained ringing of bells in the next-door Peterskirch was a nice wake-up call, but could be a problem for someone hoping to sleep past 7 am.

There are stairs to navigate for almost all of the rooms. I had luggage delayed from my flight and when it was delivered to the hotel the hotel staff did not notify me of its arrival. Found out by reading an email from the airline.

It was a nice hotel in a quiet area. It was a block away from the bus from the airport. I felt the breakfast was a bit steep but we got it for the convenience.

A huge room, we loved the beautiful big windows, the modern decor and spacious living areas and bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful and hotel was well located for exploring Basel. We had a great stay and would recommend. Only niggle was beds were not comfortable for all of us.

Good location, friendly staff.

Set in a quiet area, with a 10 minute walk to the city centre, this hotel is dated but clean. Access to our room was via two lifts, 25+m apart, with 2 or 3 flights of steps to negotiate. So not ideal if you're carrying heavy cases. The staff, however, were very helpful and friendly, which led to an enjoyable stay overall.

The staff was fabulous, even leaving a personalized welcome note in our room. Things like that mean so much! Easy walk to the quaint shops in Old Town and if you walk right across the park you'll find a hidden gem - a Botanical Garden established in the 1500s! We loved our stay at Hotel Rochat. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so memorable.
