Memories

Our first trip the Allerton was back in 1973 . We’ve stayed a couple of times there over the years . This visit seemed so special. It really brought back memories from so many years ago . I’m sure we’ll come back again .

Pros and cons

Old, but clean and roomy considering the price. Staff was friendly and nice too. Downsides were lack of hot water in the shower 2 out of 3 nights, and absolutely no window view or sunshine due to buildings standing right next to the room which was depressing but maybe okay for those who only spleen in the room.

Hidden gem

The hotel is very clean with a subtle but pleasant scent. The location is excellent—just across the street from the newly opened Harry Potter store and close to Starbucks Reserve. The lobby is bright and welcoming, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light and thoughtfully arranged seating areas that invite you to relax. The beautiful tulips along Michigan Avenue add a vibrant and seasonal charm to the surroundings.

I stayed in a petite room as I was there for a family member in a medical facility nearby. I was quoted a price and they charged my CC almost $65 more! I could have stayed closer to the facility in a full size room for the same price.

This was a great hotel. It’s a great area and there was parking right next to the hotel with a cheaper cost on SpotHero. I couldn’t check in when I got there (super early) and had plans so I was able to drop my luggage with them and come back later. They upgraded me to a suite which was nice. Great stay.

The only thing to complain is that the first time i walk in to the hotel i was carryinh my bags and was dificult to open de main door and after me, another guests walk in and a doorman open the door for them. He did not open it for me. And see that repetitive times when wslling in and out . That is my only Down side .
