good for the price

it was good overall, they are renovation parts of the hotel so it was not fully functional. the pool was not heated and felt like ice. the room overall was good, slightly dated but unsure if the room we stayed in was updated or not yet.

Unfortunately, not a good experience. When I arrived, I waited several minutes before anyone appeared at the front desk. Once inside the room we noticed the bathroom was extremely small. The tub had dark marks that made it look dirty. We were only provided with a two single roll of rough toilet paper for a 4day stay. The room felt more like a dingy motel than the “nice” hotel advertised. Throughout the stay, no one came to provide the room service that was listed. I had to request extra toilet paper and towels myself. This hotel did not feel secure. The back door, located on the 1st floor near the garbage area, was propped open with a door stopper during my entire stay. This allowed anyone to enter the building at any time. The front desk staff were rarely present. Graffiti on the stairwell gave the impression that people who didn’t belong there were hanging around. Some guests appeared questionable, further adding to my concern. On the last night, we were unable to sleep due to a man upstairs who kept screaming and crying “don’t hurt me” from 1am-3am. He didn’t sound like he was in danger. He sounded very intoxicated with alcohol or drugs. Combined with other encounters with suspicious individuals in the hallways and stairwells, gave me the impression that some rooms were occupied by drug users. Overall, I was very disappointed with this hotel. Between the poor service, unsafe environment, and disturbing incidents, I cannot recommend staying here. I will not be returning.

From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease. The environment was peaceful and secure, which made it easy to relax and enjoy my time. Every team member I encountered was warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive. They went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed, and their professionalism never wavered. The service throughout my stay was top-notch. Whether it was room service, front desk assistance, or housekeeping, everything was prompt and handled with care. My room was not only clean but also cozy and well-appointed, making it a perfect retreat after a long day. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a safe, clean, and welcoming place to stay. It’s clear that the team here takes pride in what they do—and it shows in every detail.

Needs Improvement.

We arrived on August 18th evening. Check-in was smooth. The room was spacious, but the Hotel lacked energy, vibe, and ambience. Room was clean but flooring was a bit odd. Looked like a plastic sheet was put on the floor. The washbasin was outside the bathroom, which appeared odd. The door of the washroom was odd. If you are inside you have to get into odd location to get out once the door is opened. The breakfast area looked cheap. Plastic table, plastic chair. Food was ordinary. A automatic pancake maker which dished out hard pancakes. Breads, bagels, small muffins, an oddly tasting omelet, and bacon with some cereals, milk, juice, coffee, frozen boiled eggs. Just bland. Pool was functional but I dared not to go in as there was construction going on. Will I go back? Most likely no. The hotel needs a good makeover.

Hotel was nice enough....but..........

Good afternoon! The room was nice...simple and comfortable. I didn't have much luck with the TV remote since all the channels have numbers followed by a period with another number, and the remote doesn't have a button for a period. So I couldn't get the channel I wanted. Also, the walls are paper thin and my next door neighbors (117) were a family of screaming kids and even louder adults screaming at the kids. The male voice sounded so angry that I was concerned where it was heading, but amazingly, the room got quiet around 11pm. On a 1 to 5 scale, I would give it a 3. You can't control your guests' behavior, but better soundproofing would help nullify some of that.

Less than average - beware

My husband and I stayed at Sycamore Suites in Elyria while dropping our son at nearby Oberlin College, and attending some parents events. The hotel is old and would need upkeeping but in overall decent conditions at a first sight. However, we soon discovered that our room smelled of cigarette smoke and beds were not too comfortable. Since we had driven for many hours, we informed the reception the following morning. The staff is kind and accommodating, only good point of this hotel, in my opinion. They moved us to another room on the opposite side of the hotel: while our first room looked into the front of the building and the parking lot, the second room overlooked a large backyard that was filled with debris and garbage. I even counted a broken toilet and several other bathroom debris right outside of our window! The last night of our stay, a strong smell of marijuana started seeping through our room door at around 11pm. We called the front desk and we were advised to place a towel at the bottom of the door! To be fair, they also offered to move us yet again to another room but it was very late and we were slated to leave the next morning anyway. I was reluctant to leave a negative review because the staff is made up of decent people but - if you check this hotel price for, say, Spring 2026 - it would be very expensive and this place is definitively not worth $400 a night!

The floors in the building were dirty. Stairs and halls had carpet and it seemed they had not been vacuumed/cleaned in a long time. The suite smelled badly. The bathroom smelled like pee, we think it was the curtain. We were happy to find out that the sheets on both beds were clean and towels were also clean. What bothered the most was the smell in the bathroom, it seemed clean, the smell was bad.
