It is a nice hotel. The decor is aggressively 20’s styling, kind of garishly fun. Had issues checking in, which was Expedia’s fault no theirs but they sorted it out and were good at customer service. Enjoyed it. Nice breakfast.

My favorite Des Moines hotel

Beautiful historic hotel. Lobby gorgeous. Rooms big and ours had a fireplace! Great martinis in the bar. Will definitely come back.

Fun vibe, nice rooms and amenities. Fitness room open until 11. The hot tub was just a bit too hot for me and my partner. Breakfast was a step above your average continental with lots of choices. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful at night and in the morning

The Des Lux is an interesting, comfortable hotel. Everywhere you look, there is something to catch your eye. We have stayed here several times, and never had a complaint.

Lovely Hotel! Great bartender.

We just loved everything about our stay in this cute boutique hotel. I am a cat person, so I was especially charmed by a framed photo of a gray cat "flipping the bird" in our room. We were lucky enough to have bartender Sherry serving us her award winning cocktail garnished with a rock candy stick. We wanted to come back every night to see her but family obligations got in the way. I would have liked a magnifying mirror in the room, but that is a small thing.

This place is baller! This is where you go when you demand the best from a hotel. I had a corner suite as the last time I did and everything was pitch perfect. The spa here is also amazing. You cannot go wrong with this hotel. You definitely get what you pay for.
