For a better rating, staff needs to show better attention to detail, e.g., shampoo and shower gel dispensers were empty; lots of litter outside the window; subpar breakfast choices. Easy things to remedy. Otherwise, the room was fine. The train blowing its horn outside the window at 3 AM is out of their control but is nonetheless sure to wake up all guests.

Worst experience

First and foremost we booked this hotel with the hopes of taking my two year old swimming as he loves the water and was stuck at ford field for 10 hours to watch his brother wrestle pool was in construction or something. The man working the front desk was kinda rude and very unapproachable. And then the next day after check in my husband gets stuck in the elevator with another man and had to pry the doors open even though they were pushing the emergency call button and alarm button over and over with no one coming to help. When my husband went to inform the man at the front desk his response was “yeah maintenance is working on it” what kind of professional person would respond in that way and not even apologize for the inconvenience or make sure everyone was okay and got out safe with no injury. Needless to say I will NOT ever stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it in anyway

Decent hotel for the area and money

The front desk staff were very nice however the room wasn't as clean as it usually is. The floor was a little dirty, the towels had some other torn red fabric stuck to them, and the room didn't have any facial tissue. Unfortunately there was also a bunch of groups that were also there that night that were loud, like stomping around in their room, running down the hallway, and talking/laughing outside the rooms. The staff dealt with them several times but it just resulted in not as much sleep as we had hoped. But the staff were nice otherwise and the breakfast was decent. We didn't get a chance to check out any other parts of the hotel as we were in late and out early, so we were just looking for a good night's sleep.

Underwhelmed…

Definitely don’t go for the breakfast buffet, you’ll be extremely disappointed. Staff was more concerned with texting on their phone than checking me in. Gave me no information about anything really. Barely let me know where the elevator was. Not that I wouldn’t be able to find it, the place is not large, but as a courtesy elevator, room number, and time for breakfast should’ve been included in the checkin process. There was a train track about 50 feet outside our room and a train did go by around 11-11:30 at night. There was also a birthday celebration where the party goers were up and down the halls from ~11-12:30 at night. I felt like I was a part of their party group, there is absolutely no sound barrier….anywhere! The bathroom lights were motion censor. If you were in the too long, you’d end up in the dark. Kind of inconvenient when we had a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The saving grace was the incredibly comfortable beds. Other than that, it was pretty meh.

Top notch customer service by manager, Paula

Several friends were in Detroit for the Lions game and needed a place to stay. The Leo was reasonably priced and close to the hotel. Overall, the hotel was clean and serviced its purpose just fine. It is near the highway and was close to Ford Field (maybe a 10 minute drive). What most stuck out from this visit was the manager, Paula. I probably wouldn't have left a review if not for her; she made so many efforts to make sure we had a great trip and was kind, humorous, and very much an excellent representative of the city. Thank you, Paula! You will be remembered as a big part of our trip. The only thing better would have been if the Lions won. : (
