Hotel is run down, old and out dated. There no air con in this hotel (only in the restaurant and bar. Lack of staff means long waits to order anything. At one point bar tender was serving the food at tables. Reception staff on arrival was rude.

Apart from the decor which needs uplifting, the staff are very hospitable and helpful, the rooms were clean, facilities were good. The gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam Room provided for good value recreational facilities. The views out to the sea were amazing. Overall price was good value for money spent.

Great Location

Great Location on the Promenade. Lots of activities available nearby and in hotel. Casino in hotel (if you like that sort of thing). In house Chinese Restaurant was good. Generally though hotel looks and feels a bit dated. Big bucks upgrade needed - but maybe prices would not be so reasonable then. We entered hotel from main promenade, and it looked and smelled like a beery night club [main entrance from car-park is fine]. Staff were all friendly and really helpful.

Very good hotel, opposite the beach

Pros: Very good sea view, liked the balcony, very quiet. Bar meals were very good value for money.
Cons: Only the small bathroom, but difficult to see how that could be overcome.
Location: We used public transport to get about quite easily. We got the steam railway to Port Erin; the electric railway to Snaefel/Laxey Mine/Ramsey.
Found all the staff very pleasant and helpful. Good room with small balcony. Toiletries provided and ample tea/coffee/biscuits, etc. A safe was also in the room. Only drawback was the small bathroom. Very good hot and cold breakfast with plenty of choice. When the bar tables were all occupied and we wanted a bar meal, the waiter took us into the dining room and served us our bar meal in there. Would go there again.

Hotel in good position but needs refurbishment....

Pros: Position and views. Staff were very good, friendly and professional.
Cons: Total refurbishment, badly needed.
Location: Location very good, we hired a car and saw all of the island in two days. Fantastic place. Had a wonderful meal on 2nd night at The Boatyard in Peel
On arrival hotel looks very dated, frontage to reception from car park is tired and needs urgently updating, carpets are dark and thin and appear old. Staff very good and carry the hotels lack of refurbishment. The bedroom was a deluxe double with sea view. The windows were dirty and the glass needed replacing/washing so the lovely view was marred by this. The room itself was fine, clean and as described. The mattress was old and needed replacing. It is a shame as the hotel has the potential to be very good. We ate in the restaurant on the first night at the carvery, I had the fish from menu and husband had the carvery with bottle of wine, meal was good. Breakfast was buffet style.

Palace Hotel Review

The hotel was well situated directly on the promenade overlooking the sea. The access to reception from the front was very confusing as it was situate to the rear fronting the car park which was on a different level. The room itself was clean with a large bed (pair extra to upgrade) but the bath was compact and difficult to access at 6' 2. A piano bar was advertised for Friday and Saturday night but not opening until midnight which was too late for us. The casino and other entertainment were generally geared between midnight and 6am. The spa area was somewhat disappointing with the jacuzzi out of order, the sauna located inside the gents changing room and the pool area looking drab and in need of redecoration.
