Going through the lovely old gates and first thing we see is a squirrel running up the avenue in front of us gathering his fill of nuts from the beautiful old trees in the grounds. Lovely hotel, we were going to the Ireland v All Blacks game and visiting the Beacon Hospital so hotel was great position for us. Will definitely be back again.

Run down

The hotel is run down, the lobby is freezing and the bedrooms roasting. This hotel need money spent on it and brought in the 21st century. I do realise it is a castle but is so far removed from what I'd expect

Solo and friends visit

Staff always friendly and welcoming. Food is great and well presented. Rooms are spacious , comfortable and warm. Spa is good but needs updating around the pool. Overall I love staying at the hotel and I have many happy memories visiting as a child !
