Couples’ Retreat

Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Service at this hotel is always excellent and we are repeat customers. Poolside rooms are a treat, although the “little gates” From the balcony don’t open so you still have to walk into the building to get to your room. That’s a shame. We enjoy the resort like feel of the pool area and the excellent bar service.

The pool really was the highlight of this trip. It is quite large and features a deep end of around 3 metres, which is great for being able to stay away from some of the younger kids in the shallows. The restaurant also provides bar/food service to guests on the ample loungers around the pool which allowed for a relaxing albeit inebriated experience. The area around the hotel is very walkable as there are many restaurants and shops but there is a large homeless population around the hotel which makes it a little sketchy. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable, we went for the August long weekend and some guests spent the nights partying (which good on you, life is tough and you deserve it!) but being an older hotel the walls were pretty thin and I felt like I was partying along with the other guests although I was actually in my bed trying to sleep (bring ear plugs). If you want a clean, cozy, relatively inexpensive hotel, with probably the best hotel pool in all of Kelowna, “Coast” into this hotel today!

When you book a stay at this hotel, you are automatically placed in a pet-friendly room — even if you're not traveling with a pet. This crucial detail is not disclosed during the booking process (I booked through Expedia) nor is it clearly indicated on the hotel’s website. This is incredibly dangerous for guests with severe, life-threatening allergies to animals, like myself. Upon check-in, I was shocked to learn that all standard rooms are pet-friendly by default and that only their “premium” rooms are pet-free. When I voiced my concerns, the man at the front desk seemed completely confused and unsympathetic, even irritated that I was upset. He repeatedly shifted blame onto me, insisting I should have called a week in advance to request a pet-free room. Why should the burden be on a guest to request something that should already be the default — especially if they're not traveling with a pet? This is completely backward. At most hotels, you must request a pet-friendly room and pay a fee, not the other way around. After about 45 stressful minutes, another staff member thankfully stepped in and was able to move us to a “premium” pet-free room. I appreciated her help, but the experience as a whole was frustrating, stressful, and completely avoidable if the hotel were transparent during the booking process.

We travel to the Okanagan every year and always include a night in Kelowna—with our little dog. Each time we look at hotel options, and we always come back to the Coast Capri. It just ticks all the boxes. The rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable, the beds and bedding are excellent, and the pool is a great temperature. The staff are consistently warm and welcoming, and they were all so kind to our dog. The value is also excellent—very reasonable prices for what you get. The location is another big plus: it’s right in the Coast Capri Plaza, with restaurants, shops, a grocery store, and a fully stocked liquor store just steps away. It’s close to everything you need and want to see in Kelowna. My only suggestion would be to add a couple of signs near the front of the hotel showing where the garbage can is located for dog waste, since the only one I found was out back. Other than that, it was another great stay. We’ll definitely be back next year.

Hotel has convenient dining options close by and there is a grocery store within 200 metres. I didn't like the homeless at the parking lot perimeter on Friday and Saturday night and luckily no break-ins to my vehicle. Secondly, if you are a light sleeper the room AC is quite loud when it turns ON and woke me up a few times. Didn't appreciate the former guests setting up the alarm at 6:30am the first night. Thirdly, the mattress is worn out and sags in the middle.
