The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. The only drawback was that our hotel room was in a different building than the pool and there were no signs telling you how to get to the pool. We found a staff member, who gave us directions, but they were so long that we didn't remember all of them and eventually had to ask another staff member.

Great beds. Lighting in bathroom was very dim. We thought lights were burnt out, Maintenance was very prompt, changed bulbs and gave us extra light. Nice property. We stayed a couple of nights, off season so good rates. No microwaves in room, but located in hallway. Coffee maker was very slow.

Everything in the room and common areas were dirty. Had bloody sheets in the room and took 3+ times to correct it. Everything is also an upcharge or has to be paid additionally. Would not recommend staying here

Late summer stay

We have been coming to The Abbey for at least 10 years. We enjoy its location and the local restaurants that are walkable during spring through fall like weather. And it’s an easy drive to downtown Lake Geneva. The rooms are clean. However I feel the bathroom could use a grab bar in the bathtub/shower and they must use extra softener in the water. I felt like I wasn’t getting all the product out of my hair. All of the staff are friendly. Food is good at the Waterfront restaurant. The entertainment on Friday night at the waterfront is great, very talented!

Well to start off they put us in the furthest room possible and did not tell us there were no ice machines in the building we were in and no microwave s! Then they told us the closest ice machine and we finally get to it and it was out of order!! For two of us they gave us 1 washcloth. Never gave us another. The sliding glass door looked like it had not been cleaned in a few months and Looking at other doors they were all dirty!! The one And only restaurant that was open at dinner time was not the best…I ordered a grilled cheese with brisket nd there was no cheese on it! Maybe I expected too much!!

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend for our friends’ wedding. Because of the holiday, the hotel required a minimum two-night stay. That wasn’t an issue for us since we were coming from out of town. However, the bride and groom, who live nearby and only needed one night, were forced to book two which is understandable given the holiday. When they went to check in, they were told their room had been given away because they didn’t arrive the first night. No effort had been made to contact them before reselling the room, and they received no refund. To make matters worse, they had to pay for another room just to stay on their wedding night. When they raised concerns, the response from the front desk was essentially, “You should have read the fine print.” This showed zero compassion or flexibility—especially toward a couple bringing so many guests to the property. Overall, this experience demonstrated that the hotel values reselling rooms over providing good customer service. Treating newlyweds and paying guests this way is unacceptable. I will not be staying here again. Also when we left we had to pay additional resort fees. I prefer when you book a hotel online you see the full price rather than sneaking in additional costs at the end.
