We arrived in the evening knowing that this hotel had no reception, signage was poor and it took a while to find the safe where the key to the room was located. We were in room 2. The door didn’t close properly and was in poor condition so we used the chain for security but it was very flimsy and didn’t provide comfort to us that we were safe. There were cobwebs on the ceiling, dust on the furniture and the mugs weren’t overly clean. The bathroom has been renovated and looks quite nice but don’t move the shower head or the water from where the head connects will spray out all over the bathroom and flood the floor and wet your belongings that you have placed on the counter, including the only pair of pyjamas you brought with you. Yep. There is nobody there on the weekend so too bad if you want a fresh towel or need anything. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing we have ever slept on, it was like sleeping on a hard floor and my back is still hurting from it. We have never been happier to check out of a hotel!

Horrible Place!! When we arrived at Commodore Regent on 13th of January, 2025, we found a note on the desk saying the air conditioner was broken. There was no communication regarding this issue prior to our arrival. I called the person on call three times asking whether it would be possible to offer us a different room with a working air conditioner. The lady kept saying she would come back to check availability and get back to me, but never called back. It was a hot day in Launceston and the room temperature was 35 degrees. We could not have a good night sleep because of the heat. When we went through check-out on the following day, I spoke to a lady in charge who promised us a $100 refund as a compensation. I requested to get the refund on the spot but she said I had to go through Expedia and she would proceed with the refund once she received the request through Expedia. I lodged a refund request through Expedia. Expedia got back to me saying they were not able to obtain an approval from the property manager for a refund after multiple attempts and refund could not be granted. It looked like that the manager was only trying to dismiss us by offering us a "compensation or refund" they never prepared to pay. STAY AWAY from this place!!!

Property was nice, good view, comfy bed and I enjoyed the check in process, however it was slightly dirty. Utensils where dirty and rusty, shower head was in desperate need of replacement. Nothing bad enough to make me want to leave but just gave an icky feeling

HAPPY for our staying

We stayed 5 nights in total. We were pretty happy with our stay. One of our room had nice park view and very comfortable. The other room had some ants but also comfortable. The hotel didn't have reception all the time but phone contact was easy and check-in had no issue. If we came back to Launceston we would like to stay again.

The room was very neat and appears to have had an upgrade at some stage. There were a few minor things that it did not have that most motels/hotels offer. No microwave, no plates or bowls, no knives or forks, no milk in fridge for a coffee or tea, no toaster. There was also a hole in the sliding door to the bathroom.

We stayed in a spa room, at the back of the motel for one night. It had the usual amenities of a motel room, it was clean, quiet, reasonably large, comfortable and well maintained. Our room was up a flight of stairs, as were about half of them, not a problem for us. There was plenty of parking and it was a quick walk to the CBD, across from the park. There is no one at reception, we received an email about 48 hours prior to check in, with a code for the key safe. The procedure was simple, and there was a phone number available for any problems. The hotel, for us was value for money, we highly recommend it and will be back the next tie we are staying in Launceston.

A self check-in motel - email code not received but easily and efficiently resolved by a qick phone call. An older property with stairs as shown on website. Our Premier Queen room was spacious, very clean, good bed and large recently renovated bathroom - all great. Excellent location opposite the beautiful CityGardens and just a short stroll to the CDB. Not so good - older TV, minimal crockery/cutlery (a min. of 2 bowls & plates and 2 spoons & knives is suggested), no microwave, older but OK chairs. Overall excellent value for the rate paid!
