Great Stay

Great stay. Needed a room during my layover in the CBD. Small room, but all I needed to rest, lay my luggage and shop, eat,until my flight. Very close to everything. On the tram line and very near the subway.

More like a European motel 6.

Not so good. It was supposed to be handicap and it wasn’t other than one bar next to the toilet. The shower was open with no grab bars or drains in the main floor so floor was all wet with nothing to keep you from falling. It was very dangerous. I almost busted it several times. No where even to hang your wet towels. Bed was supposed to be king size. Turned out to be a full. Had to move our luggage into the bathroom to make room for my wheelchair to to get in and out the door. Too late and too tired to do anything else but sleep. Noticed stained sheets the next day on the bed that were not mine. Don’t recommend

This property needs a lot of updating and maintenance. Only one very very slow elevator. Staff said they are renovating property but they wait way too long. The staff are nice and attentive so I give them credit for that.

It would have been great if the listing showed that this property is under construction. This way, I woukd have weighed the price vs inconvenience vis a vis other hotels. Only one elevator is working. The air that goes into the room is dusty and caused minor nasal congestion problems since the start. My mom had to leave the hotel and go somewhere else because it was “hard to breathe”. She was instantly better once she left.

The hotel building is quite old and one of the elevators is under renovation as of early January 2025. Room 119 has no view outside the window and the room is quite small for 2 people. But the proximity to Southern Cross railway station and on the free tram zone is an advantage.

Ok for a sleep

The service was great & polite. The cleanliness was on the other hand not so great. The walls opposite the bed had stains from ceiling to floor, empty bottle of Coke Zero left by previous occupants, a strong smell of mould & urine in the room. I killed 3 mosquitoes & 2 flies in the room on the first night. There is no storage what so ever, so you are literally living out of your suitcase. Very small room so if you are staying for a night or two & you just need somewhere to sleep it’s ok, other than that I wouldn’t recommend it.

Our first 2 days here were not great. We had a ‘shoe box’ room on the ground floor, which was noisy and seemed to have no noise cancellation whatsoever in the rooms. This was made extra worse when the neighbour decided to scream and yell from midnight till early hours of the morning. Staff I spoke to at 3am that night were not helpful. We asked for a room change later that morning, which the staff organised while we were away at the cricket. Unfortunately when we got back to our new room, the aircon didn’t work but we were moved to another room and given a free upgrade to a queen room, which was a lot bigger, had windows and was quiet. If I were to book again, I would definitely book the queen or king rooms and not be on ground level. Only downside to the rooms was that the bathroom was absolutely tiny in each room we stayed in. The door to the shower was less wider than the width of the bath mat (length of 2.5 iPhones; yes I measured). If you’re a size 14 or larger, or 20 weeks pregnant like me, it was a STRUGGLE to get in and out. Staff were friendly, and the place had been renovated. 1 of the 2 lifts were being upgraded. but other than our not so great first 2 days, the area was an easy walking distance to Southern Cross station and lots of food options and convenience stores close by.
