The hotel is older and I loved that. However, there are no amenities. No coffee makers, kettles in rooms. No chair for a computer desk. Had to hound continuously to get one. The elevators were continuously breaking down with at times long line ups for the one still operating. Rooms lacked regular maintenance. Sometimes tv would work, sometimes not. Extremely small bathrooms. I was told I could get a late checkout if I come back to the front desk the day before our checkout, when I did that I was told it was a guaranteed late checkout until 1 pm just call front desk at 7:30 am on day of departure and they will add me to the list. I called and then was told the hotel is busy and cannot accommodate my request! I feel that the people that worked there are very nice however the management is poor which reflected on the misguided staff.

Our room was....iffy. The mirror in the bathroom had considerable rust, as did the hardware on the bathroom door. The walls are paper-thin; we heard everything happening in the room above us. There was an electrical outlet hanging out of the wall, which was obviously dangerous. The lights in the lamps flickered. The shower had mold. The shade for one of the windows was totally broken and could not open to allow light in, making for a very dark room in the daylight. Did not feel like I got what I paid for.

The room was clean but the bathroom shower had a constant, annoying water drip. The first night there was no heat andI was told the outside temperature had to drop to 50 before I would get heat so the room remained very cold.The room was noisy from outside street noise - garbage trucks began to make noise at 3 am. The hotel offers no extra services- not even in room coffee or an urn for coffee in the lobby in the morning.

The room was clean… 336. upgraded to junior suite.. sofa ok.. leather? Chair very shabby. Bathroom sink not aligned with wall..crooked.. big gap where things might disappear behind and not be retrieved. Stuffed a towel there to make sure nothing got lost. Carpet ripped There was no ability to adjust the temperature in the room. I asked for heat, person came up, said he would look at it. Never came back. Slept in my coat. Reported to the front desk in the morning.. immediately got on it and sent another person to my room. Apparently the heat doesn’t go on until the outside temp is 55 degrees. He overrid the system … and told me that I could ask for a space heater! I have stayed at Empire for probably the past 30 years, because its location is perfect for Lincoln Center events. Its amenities have lessened over the years. It is in need of an overhaul of its aging parts, including things that might cause them to have to reduce occupancy while they reinvent the insides. It is safe and well located. That’ll keep me going there

The hotel rooms are in need of major renovations. Peeling paint, chipped furniture, window shades broken. The front desk employees (with the exception of Vanessa) were curt, unpleasant and hardly accommodating. Most did not wear name tags. The safe was not secured to the wall, easy to remove. Food from the previous visitor was left on top of the refrigerator.

The location of this Hotel is ideal. The staff is nice, willing to help. But the rooms are old and dark. They barely offer couple of bottles of water per day, and you have to pick them up at reception. Our room was dirty the first night, the bathroom's floor was full of hair, I had to clean it myself.

Room had no heat, was old and drafty. There were no space heaters available. Shower dripped all day and night and couldn't be stopped. Asked for late checkout and was given until 1pm and from 11:55am till 1 there was a knock on my door every ten minutes with the inquiry of what time am i checking out. Absolutely would not recommend.
