While staff was wonderful and helped as much as possible our room was not what was advertised. The listing included Royal Level amenities like room service and access to certain restaurants and areas, but none of that was included. The property blocks off a large portion of the resort for Royal guests which made it feel restricted instead of all inclusive. The trip into town was ridiculously overpriced. The food made several of us sick during the trip and we are still dealing with stomach issues days later. This was a very disappointing experience for a trip that was supposed to be special for our family.

The property is gorgeous and the pool and swim up bar are fun and well maintained. The inlet beach is also gorgeous and good for snorkeling or swimming for all skill levels. It’s close to Xcaret park but you will have to pay separately to go (highly recommended). The hotel staff are friendly but do note you may be approached about time share presentations several times during the trip. The hotel is great for a more remote vacation and if you do want to go explore Playa Del Carmen then it’s a $30 or so cab ride. I enjoyed staying at this property.

Occidental at Xcaret is impressive with inclusiveness: use of natural resources for architectural design, ambience, 24/7 guest services, cleanliness, maintenance, buffet, restaurants, bars, pharmacy, shops, and taxi service. One of our rooms that smelled like mildew was replaced with another within a few minutes.

Will definitely return! It's our 2nd time here. Last stay was about 14 years ago and we loved the place just as much! Well kept, clean room, great staff (Andrea, our concierge, made sure all our needs were met...including a last-minute ride to the airport when our preplanned ride failed), lots of nature, good food. 2 minor issues: people smoking on their balconies and in places they shouldn't have as well as children in the adults only section.

We had to switch room 4 times. The first one, the door wouldn’t close or lock. Second one, after much arguing, my wife’s bathing suit was stolen. We paid an additional $65 a day to upgrade room locations, only to end up with 2 small beds. Finally, 4 days before leaving, they gave us a suite, with still additional charges. I am supposed to ask Expedia for a refund for the transport service charge because we ended up booking a private driver.

The rooms were clean and tidy. The staff was all great and the hotel seemed to be always cleaning and making small renovations and sprucing up. The al acart restaurant were all really good. I would give the overall food a 8/10. The beach was very nice and protected from waves and seaweed. Lots of fish next to resort in the inlet for snorkeling. The only couple things that would have been better would have been easier transportation options to Playa Del Carmen. Also the nightly shows could have been much better. Having Xcaret park next door was also a bonus. And the production show at Xcaret was amazing.

We stayed in the Royal Level. It was awesome. The only downside to this resort is the lack of a long stretch of natural beach. The Royal Level is next to rocks not meant for walking. The view ids beautiful though.

Your timeshare employees were pushy, and it took away from the excitement and relaxation we were hoping for while staying at this property for our honeymoon after getting married. We had to repeatedly deny the breakfast “meetings” which felt predatory. After doing so we found out that employees had noted it in a file in your system and there was no “above and beyond” treatment after denying these meetings. I already spent more than enough money on our flights and the stay. Trying to squeeze more money out of us was insulting. I will never stay at another one of your resorts and I will ensure that anyone we know planning a trip in the future hears about our experience so they can avoid it as well.
