Situated in the heart of Old Town Prague

Pros: The customer service and the bed!
Cons: The televisions need updating-bigger, more English channels such as movie channel, rather than just the news. Also provide a kettle and tea
Location: Situated in the centre of the city, with a 10 minute walk to Old Town Square/Charles Bridge. Access to transport is right outside
We had a truly pleasant stay at Design Metropol. It was not a 5 star hotel, however the customer service was 5* and they catered for our every need. The room was an upgrade as requested to the 8th floor with wonderful views. The room was not very big, but was clean and comfortable. Can not thank the reception staff enough, very friendly and accommodating. All speakers English well. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of the hotspots and the Old Town. We would definitely come here again!

Not a 4 star hotel, but good location

It's worth noting before staying in the design metropol hotel I had been in another 4 star hotel in Budapest. For my reservation, I paid for a superior room with views which ended up overlooking a department store and a Main Street which I didn't anticipate. The general cleanliness wasn't amazing, and the room seemed well used. I was surprised to find in the room there was no guide on telephone numbers, hotel details and also no tea/coffee making facilities. I couldn't get my TV to work, I could've been doing something wrong but the battery closure had come off. Also note that there are 3 plug sockets on one side of the bed, but they are all occupied by the reading lights, so you will need to sacrifice light for plugging devices in. On a more positive note the breakfast was good but not amazing and the location is very central, the view from the 8th floor is truly amazing despite the random mix of outdoor furniture. Lastly I was also put off by the staff being quite unfriendly and their taxi service costing €25 as a flat rate when I had paid €20 on a meter from the airport on arrival, overall if I knew what this hotel was like before I definitely wouldn't have booked it, but it's bearable for a short stay.

Disappointing

Was initially very disappointed with the hotel. It was advertised as 4 star when quite frankly I would have said 2 star. I have stayed in a lot of 4 star hotels and I can assure you this is not the case. The shower door was insanely noisy to open and close, though very clean. The cleaners burst into our hotel room twice on the 1st morning despite the Do Not Disturb sign being present. Though the second morning they seemed to be able to see it. Beds were very comfy. View from our room was a massive wall view of the side of the hotel. If this hotel had been advertised as 2 star I would have happily accepted these flaws. However I was expecting 4 star standards, and this was a trip to celebrate for 2 women in their 30's, we really were expecting a lot more from this hotel. The wifi would make you re-log on every 5 minutes! Was incredibly annoying!

Die Unterkunft war okay. Einige Sachen waren etwas dreckig z.B. Bettdecke und Duschvorhang. Das Frühstück war gut und bot sehr vieles. Das Brot in der hinteren Reihe war teils etwas hart. Das Personal war zwar nicht unfreundlich, aber auch nicht sehr zuvorkommend. Wir mussten sehr lange auf unser Zimmer beim Check in warten. Es hat aber eine super Terrasse und auch ein Bistro mit Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten. Die Unterkunft ist zentral.
