The Check In and Out was absolute chaos and the worst I experienced in Brazil. I stayed two nights and my room was not cleaned once, despite asking. I literally walked out of the hotel after two days without doing a proper check out as the chaos at reception was too much.

The property is far away from being a 4 star hotel. It’s old and outdated, a lot of things in the room didn’t work or work poorly. Zero sound proof and the daily cleaning has a lot to improve. The staff barely speak English, so if you want to effectively communicate you have to speak in Portuguese. We’ve complained several times, but nothing was done to improve about experience.

Was without a toilet in room for most of 1 day (even after maid logged issue) & a number of hours another day for same issue! Had to go to other floors to use general toilets which were very dirty! Tried to contact 4 different extensions (1was assistant mgr & another receptionist) one evening without any of them being answered to highlight an issue! While hotel is on great position, some staff provided poor service!

We had a fantastic stay at Rio Othon. We were there over carnaval, which means it was beyond busy, and yet we felt like the staff cared about the few issues we had and worked quickly to resolve them. We definitely recommend this hotel & plan to be back.

The room I initially was give had water running from the A/C. They moved me to a low level floor and was noisy and dirty. The hotel is dirty. The following day I requested a change which was given to a higher floor unfortunately, the room had a funny smell, the door knob of the bathroom make so much noise, the mirrow didnt work, the carpet was rough and dirty. The bathroom seem that they dont cdeep cleaned. This hotel needs to update the rooms.

The breakfast was like a nightmare cruise. The hotel is a tourist trap. The rooms are outdated and the elevator is always packed. My room had a nice front view of the beach. I didn´t dare enter the small and packed swimming pool and the sauna are is a joke. Wake up cariocas, make better hotels.

I give it a 4 out of 5

The hotel has the best location and views. The service exccellent. Staff very friendly and the facilites are very nice. The room was very old and not in the best condition. The bathroom’s door was broken and didn’t close. The sink was clogged. It needs remodeling.
