Terrible and unsafe! Expedia should be admonished for ever recommending this property! The front door handle to the property was secured with duct tape. Greeted by a teenager in a hallway surrounded by bullet proof glass and given an email code for entrance. Then given a code for the room via a lock box. The room was a cell with no windows secured by a single lock. Dirty bed clothes with no in room safe. We checked in and immediately checked out. Dirty and unsecured!

This was a convenient location for exploring Old San Juan and walkable to the cruise port. Staff was friendly and each room was unique. The facilities were somewhat dated but well maintained and clean. Note: some rooms are on the second floor and there is not an elevator.

I only stayed for a night, but I really loved my little room and the atmosphere there. Speaking with the young woman at check was so nice. Good conversation from the beginning. The room was so cozy and beautiful. And I slept so well. I will definitely come back! And I am thankful for the short stay.

Strategically located in the center of Old San Juan. Parking requires use of nearby parking lots but everyone does. Spacious suites that is well equipped for long term stays. Highly recommended!

The location is good for exploring Old San Juan on foot; otherwise, the place is mediocre to poor (but clean). The young lady receptionist was unwelcoming and unhelpful. She conveyed an "I do not want to be bothered attitude". It seemed that the staff was suppose to communicate by email and text (which they did) rather than speak directly with guests; very impersonal. There was not a chair in the room. The only place to sit was on a small bench. There were no cups or glasses in the room for getting a drink of water.The room did not have a window. Our room was located on the first floor on the main hall near the lobby. This location, with a ceramic tile floor in the hall, was noisy when people were coming and going (awakened early in the morning). There are much better places to stay in Old San Juan. We stayed at a better place, which was less expensive, for part of our visit to Old San Juan. I cannot recommend the Fortaleza Suites!

Basic nights stay. Had to wait in the street to be let in the front door after “ringing the buzzer”. Three staff members were there but none let us in. Had to call on phone for a fourth person to act. Cannot control thermostat in room. Water temp control almost impossible in shower.

Before our arrival we received a message that the street in front of the hotel was closed due to "emegency street repairs." On our way from the hotel from the airport, our Uber driver informed us that access was extremely limited due to a huge festival and he would have to drop us a 1/2 hour walk from Old San Juan or at a festival bus stop. He dropped us at the bus stop and we eventually found a taxi to take us to with a couple blocks of the hotel. There was extremely limited access in and out of OSJ for the entire time of our anticipated stay. We asked to speak to a manager to discuss shortening our stay due to traffic difficulties and he never got back to us. All the information we received about transportation was incorrect. We left the following day and had to walk a mile and a half with our luggage to the Port to find a taxi. Never saw any evidence of "street repairs." Very poor communication and incorrect information from staff. Staff acted unconcerned and disinterested and management never contacted us. Our incredibly small, windowless room was clean and quiet.
