The Arctic Club is a living piece of Seattle’s history and a stunning example of Beaux-Arts architecture. The building’s signature walrus heads that crown the exterior are wonderfully detailed and ornate.
Our room faced Cherry Street on the fifth floor—reportedly haunted due to the tragic suicide of Congressman Marion Zioncheck, who fell to his death there in 1936. The room itself was spotless, cozy, and comfortable, complete with a minibar (which we didn’t indulge in). It even overlooked the spot where he was said to have been found. I didn’t sense any lingering spirits, though—it felt peaceful.
The Dome Room provided the perfect setting for a Candlelight Quartet performing Halloween classics. You can even order drinks and snacks during the show, which was a nice bonus. Fun fact: scenes from the Stephen King miniseries Rose Red (2002) were filmed there!
After the performance, we had dinner in the bar and lounge. I enjoyed a delicious crispy Brussels sprouts and shishito pepper appetizer, while my husband ordered a Caesar salad—good, though a bit simple. I paired my meal with a glass of Noughty sparkling wine, and my husband had a cocktail. Sitting there, I could easily imagine gentlemen of the early 1900s gathered in their top hats, smoking cigars, and sipping brandy.
It was such a cool experience—I can’t wait to go back!
