This was one of the better hotels that we've had the plesure of staying. It was a picturesque venue. The only thing wrong is the morning buffet. A little pricey but convenient thing. Service was excellent. We had a deffective mini bar fridge which was promptly replaced.

An honest review

Crowne Plaza is located at the end on Nanjing street in Shanghai and this excellent location had excellent dinning and shopping. The checkin and checkout was easy and a shout-out for Kathy who upgraded us to a VIP room with a view of the Shanghai skyline and my wife loved it. One thing I would recommend is that the breakfast buffet should clearly identify vegetarian dishes to avoid any confusion. We highly recommend this hotel for visitors who have a few days to see the city.

The hotel is right smack on the busy street of Nanjing East Road and so it provides easy access to the MRT (People's Park Station is just 5 to 10 minutes away). Food is a plenty so there are a lot of options. Hotel itself is very clean. We love that the hotel provides self-initiated services such as replenishing water / water bottles and changing towels on a daily basis even though we did not ask to make up room. The hotel is clean and elegant. Front desk folks are very courteous.

Location is fabulous, right on Nanjing Road but not loud or overly busy. Rooms were somewhat dated in feel, but still very nice, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast buffet was vast, but a bit pricey for the quality. Would definitely stay here again.

The building is old but beautiful inside. My only complain is the air quality inside. The air condition blows out dust. We turned off the AC to reduce the dust, and it worked.

Most of the staff there are either inexperienced to understand or handle our queries and they are not very helpful. The only person I can comment is the lady that processed our check-in although rooms were not ready as we were early. I understand she requested for a clean and if possible, refurbished room. Think her last name is Zhang. All the other front desk staff are mostly unfriendly although I speaks Mandarin. They were selective on guests and my simple request for a power plug got ignored as they say it’s all taken up (for 2 nights!)

This hotel would have been lovely 20 years ago. Now, it is tired, and not very clean. This hotel has the most unwelcoming lobby I’ve ever seen. There is nowhere to sit! The back door/taxi drop off/pick up has a massive open space for luggage…it’s unsightly and unwelcoming for guests. There is also zero seating in the front lobby. It’s strange and has bad curbside appeal (aka bad feng shui!)
