Our villa was wonderful, large spacious room. The staff came twice to our villa to carry out housekeeping. The Royal Sands Koh Rong certainly has an eye for detail and think of everything a traveller needs. We are very glad we stayed here. Special mention to Kean and Sela who were amazingly welcoming and assisted with all our various queries. Sela booked us a car to pick us up from Sihanoukville pier to our hotel. The Royal Sands made our stay on Koh Rong perfect!

It’s really hard to fault this hotel…it’s practically perfect in every way. The resort is beautiful and natural, it fits so well into its beach location. The eco practices are spot on…the beach was full of fish swimming around you in the jade green waters, geckos were abundant and listening to the frogs, along with the waves on the beach is a wonderful way to fall to sleep. Both restaurants were beautiful offering great f & b…my partner especially loved the eggs Benedict made to order. Two minor criticisms (and I stress they are minor) are that there was no full length mirror in our room and that sun lounges by the pool were not in sync with the style/comfort of the rest of the resort. In finality this resort has become one of our favs and we cannot wait to return..

The resort is unique in its own. An unique property with a 4 km pristine beach in front. The staff is really professional and welcoming and the area is extremely clean and calm. There are, however, some aspects that might have been handled differently, such as: - communication with the hosts: after having booked the property for the new year period, we have been told that there was a 'mandatory' NYE dinner at 150usd/person, without alcohol. We found the request quite shocking as a guest should be informed before making a reservation. Furthermore, there was no menu a' la carte for that price but a series of food station not in line with a 5 star hotel establishment. The quality of the breakfast can also be improved with a better choice of gluten free options, that should be in line with the standards of a 5 star establishment. Other points to improve: - sustainability: use of plastic can be reduced, in line with new sustainability strategies of other similar hotels; - property conditions: in some houses, thatch on the roofs is almost gone and need to be put again; - looking for alternatives for energy generation: use of solar panels on houses' roofs can diminish the pressure of oil fuelled generators in the area. Despite all this the staying was relaxing although I would not classify the resort as a '5 stars' if one compares it with other ones in the country or the region.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im Royal Sand auf Koh Rong in Kambodscha rundum genossen. Die Atmosphäre ist einfach wunderbar – ruhig, entspannt und trotzdem voller Leben. Der Strand ist makellos sauber, der Sand angenehm fein und das Wasser glasklar. Ein echtes Paradies! Das Essen im Resort ist hervorragend: frisch, abwechslungsreich und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Alle Mitarbeitenden waren unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend – man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an willkommen und bestens aufgehoben. Eine sehr schöne Unterkunft, wenn man einen Bungalow direkt am Strand bucht. Allerdings alles sehr teuer. Es kamen Transportkosten mit eigenem Boot dazu. Je Fahrt 40$/pers. Jede Aktivität vor Ort kostete und der Hikingweg in direkter Umgebung zum nächsten Ort war zugewachsen.

The hotel is perfect, the swimming pool, the best and helpful staff, the spa, the amazing room, the most white sand, the warm and blue water, the island could be a paradise, but it is getting very dirty! Human garbage! It is a pitty! The hotel cleans everyday the front beach, the very front beach! Only if you isolate yourself in the beautiful and very expensive hotel ( I mean, you have to pay even for a stand up padle, a bike, a tranfer to the village) you will not see the sad future for the island!
