The location is excellent, close to transport. Rooms are basic, but comfortable enough. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned, but staff were very willing to rectify this. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The Great Southern is very centrally located to Central Station, Paddy's Markets, and of course lots of Chinese restaurants. The restaurant at the hotel also has great meals, the rooms are clean and comfortable.

This hotel is so close to Central, just one short block away. The rooms are basic but have everything you need for a comfortable night and are always clean. The staff are friendly and service is quick. It is nice to have a bar on the premises plus food available as well. Shopping is close by. All in all, a great place to stay for a traveler.

We travelled to Sydney after a family wedding, we loved the convience of this hotel near the light rail and central train station. Room was good had everything we needed, only thing I would change is the bed was too soft for us. We loved the friendly staff and the food at the downstairs restaurant was delicious.

Beds need upgrading

Have stayed at the great southern quite a few times and haven’t had any problems but this stay was not good as air conditioning was not working properly although they did supply a fan on request. But most importantly the bed was super uncomfortable, it was so hard that we both didn’t get much sleep it was like sleeping on the floor. I think it’s time for upgraded beds. As I said previously I have stayed here quite a few times in different rooms and although this room was fine the bed was terrible. Room211

Great central hotel

Very comfortable room with good aircon and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was really nice and reasonably priced. Great location to central station and plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes nearby.
