Everything about the GSH is excellent- except for the area outside the rear entrance. Understand that this square is not the hotel’s property or responsibility but the filthy, rubbish filled, smelly area detracts from the experience. I noticed that a lot of visitors used this access.

Great location and price make this hotel an excellent choice for an overnight stop in Sydney. Somewhere to eat and drink is an added bonus. Central station across the road, rail to Circular Quay or a 20 minute walk to Darling Harbour. Also Haymarket markets just behind. Room was small but perfect.

A hotel with history conveniently located near Central Station with a shortcut via the back entrance to Chinatown. I opted for no room service for 3 nights and it was finem Staff everywhere - at the bar and reception - are helpful and efficient. Had fajitas during their Mexican night and it was delicious!

A convenient place near Central Station

The room was a bit on the small side (the bathroom was quite large however) but it had what we needed. It was raining a lot which I think caused an annoying drip sound but we were warm and snug. There are many restaurants nearby and central is only 5 minutes walk.

The best place to stay in Sydney's CBD.

Very clean, quiet, friendly, helpful staff and extremely convenient to Central Railway Station, the Light rail, Chinatown and Paddy's Markets.
