There is mold on the ceiling, mold on the walls, mold everywhere except, remarkably, the bathroom. There is graffiti under the bunk that could easily have been covered if anyone had bothered. If we were staying for more than a night I would have complained but it's not worth it. People smoking in their rooms making the hallway stink. No elevator. This place is wild. I can't believe I paid over $150 for this room

The property was comfortable, easy to locate and fairly convenient to get to by bus and train from Sydenham station. However, the TV and the AC in our room were not working and we requested the staff to fix them or move them to another room. That is when our ordeal began. The staff took our key when we left in the morning and promised to shift us or move our luggage to another room when we returned. We came back around 10 pm and found that the front door was locked. We had no way of calling as we had just arrived in Australia and had no local number. We somehow managed to enter the hotel with the help of another gentleman who was staying there, but found that the reception was locked. There was an emergency phone in the lobby which didnt work. We were stuck and didnt know what to do. None of the staff were around. Finally we managed to call the emergency number from another guests phone, a lady picked up on the other end and very brusquely asked us to wait for sometime. When she finally came, we asked her why the door was locked and how we were expected to enter our room when there were no staff around and they had our key. She was very rude and said we had to call them and ask them to leave our key. We said we had no way of calling as we had just arrived and had no local sim. They had our whatsapp but didnt call us either. The whole experience was very unpleasant and left a bad mark on our otherwise wonderful Australia trip.

The bed had a big dip in it so it wasn't as comfortable as expected.
There was some loud rubbish bin collections at about 3am both nights from Macdonalds, the noise even made it through the double glazed window.
The amount of rubbish and litter in the gardens, carpark, footpath and gutters was distressing and horrible.
The customer service was lovely from the reception team.
I have stayed in quite a few ibis budget hotels and being a budget option my expectations aren’t usually very high. But this would have to be the worst of this chain that I had stayed in. Customer service on check in was ordinary. Couldn’t use the parking I paid for overnight (they either over booked their parking or don’t check that it is ibis guests only parking there), the cleanliness of the room was below par, the aircon/heating unit was noisy and as such couldn’t be used when I was trying to sleep, and the place smelled of sewerage. This one is in desperate need of renovations and a better cleanliness standard at the very least. The only good things were the bed was comfortable and at least that was clean enough, and it was within close proximity to UNSW. But I’ll probably avoid staying here again.

Could not find a parking spot that was for the motel and also got woken up by cleaners in the early morning even when do not disturb sign was on door bad communication
The walls and ceiling of the first room we were given were covered in black mould. It seemed as though the staff member was testing us to see whether we would accept that standard of room because when we went to reception to ask to be moved he agreed right away. The second room was a mild improvement but barely. There were complaints from previous guests written on the door tags still hanging inside the room. There was no mould buy it was not clean. This was by far my worst Ibis experience. I do not recommend.
The property and rooms need a good clean and update. I get it’s a budget hotel but the dust on things and the floor was thick and the bedding all stained under the sheets!
