It's in an old building which makes it quaint and yet the rooms are modern and well maintain. Breakfast was great. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely stay at the hotel again. I like boutique hotels and this was one of the best that I have stayed.

Noisy!

I loved the hotel, the staff, and location! Why the one star review? The noise!!! I spent 10 nights in the Mary O’ Suite for $6500 aud. Lovely room with lots of space and one of the few rooms with privacy in the bathroom. Just a note, the room no longer has a record player but a Bluetooth speaker. Spice alley stacks all their trash cans right outside the hotel and they don’t recycle. From 10pm to midnight you will hear people sorting through the cans for bottles. Anywhere from 5am to 7am you are going to hear the garbage pickup of 30 trash cans. Everyday! The hotel listed the room as sound proofed, it is not. They sound proofed 2 of the windows, but the curved one in the bedroom is a single pane. You will hear everything! When I asked the front desk why it wasn’t sound proofed as advertised they said it was because of the building heritage. It’s not heritage, it’s because it is because it was more difficult or more expensive. If you stay here, be prepared to sleep with earplugs in. Shame on them for lying on the listing.

Upon arrival the front desk was empty. Wasn't made aware at any point during the process that we would have a door to adjoining room. The food at the bar was not great. Both my partner and I barely ate half our meals before getting up and walking out. When we arrived back later that night our card to get back in wasn't working and a staff member was required to let us in.

The hotel is over priced for what you get and the service was often tardy The rooms are clean but noisy and had to ask for more than two towels Some facilities were closed or had private functions so couldn’t use Breakfast good but everything expensive The area is good for food but a long way from the harbour. The lift rooms are very small in the bedroom area
