Location was excellent, close to all the theaters. The property has seen better days lots of nicks and worn bits but everything functioned as it should. The staff was great check-in was a breeze.

Moda is really, really convenient. In the heart of Vancouver, close to retail, to stadiums, to transport and more. The hotel is small but tidy. The room was very small and the bathroom has seen better days but the staff cleaned it daily and it always felt good to come back to a clean and looked after hotel. The cafe next door was a bit disappointing but I didn't score down for that but I would recommend people travel a block over to nova for waffles. That place was incredible!!

The location is perfect in the center of town. The hotel could use some refurbishment as it is a bit dated and worn. Hotel personnel were helpful and courteous. We would likely stay there again if the opportunity presented itself.

As others have said this is an old hotel in desperate need of updating. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpets need thorough cleaning and our room smelt of old smoke. That said it is brilliantly located and the staff couldn't be lovelier. However, we paid for a suite which was advertised with 1 king bed. Not a problem, all of the suites we had booked for our stay in BC said exactly the same thing. As we booked the room for 2 adults and a 13 year old (and it had been accepted by the hotel) I expected the sofa to be made up into a bed for my daughter. When we arrived this was not the case. I phoned down to reception to be told that the sofa does not convert into a bed and they expected our 13 year old (5ft 5in!) daughter to either sleep on the sofa (helpfully there was a spare blanket and pillow in the closet) or to share our bed. She could not fit comfortably on the sofa and we definitely were not going to share a bed between three so there was no choice but to pay an additional cost per night to have a camp bed brought up to the room. According to the staff, the hotel will accept 2 adults and a child up to the age of 17 in that suite and still expect the child to sleep on the sofa or share their parents' bed. So we squeezed a tired looking camp bed into the corner of the living area of the suite and my daughter had a few uncomfortable nights' sleep before we returned to the UK.

The breaker had blown and was greeted with a dark room and had to ask for help. The floors are old wood floors with carpet so I could hear the squeak of every single footstep upstairs all night. It smelled quite bad. In fact my clothes still stank when I got home.

Good Place to Stay

Our room was small but adequate for our purposes (a place to sleep and shower before and after sightseeing). Room was very clean. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel location is excellent; within walking distance of the waterfront, Gastown, etc. I thought it would be noisy due to its downtown location, but it was surprisingly quiet. The breakfast in the adjacent UVA restaurant was excellent,

Staff was very helpful! Parking is across the street and a little tricky to navigate, but not a serious issue. Building is older so spaces were tight at times and floors uneven, but overall it was a pleasant experience.
