Nice hotel away from the hustle and bustle

Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Breakfast
Location: Location was perfect if you wanted to be away from the main activities/noises
Nice hotel, situated in Giudecca , which is an island off of main Venice. The staff were very friendly and the room was turned down daily. We had an upgrade to our double room, which was nice. The room was clean, with a great view from the windows of a typical Venice water street, which was nice. The toilet was clean with a Bidet included. Breakfast was basic, with Croissants, ham, cheese, bread, jams etc. Nothing cooked.

brief trip to Venice

Typical well-run and well designed Italian hotel - very clean and bright - it had the feeling of being run by a very professional team - it has a small bar area - Wi Fi was only available in the reception/bar area which was the only downside.

Love Venice

The hotel was spotless, cool and comfortable. The staff were helpful at all times. Was disappointed that it was not on main island but soon got used to the local transport so no problem. Would use it again.

Great Hotel!

Lovely and clean, friendly staff and a nice distance from the central Island (although the water bus service can be unreliable!).

A little gem

Unprepossessing from the outside, this lovely hotel is tucked away down a tiny alley, 3 - 4 minutes walk from the waterbus stop that takes you to St. Mark's Square (a 10 minute trip). It is beside one of the canals in Guidecca (pronounced Gweedecca apparently!), right by a simple bridge which gives it added charm. Once inside the hotel is clean and modern with a small but cheery breakfast room. No hot food for breakfast but adequate cereals, fruit, cold meats, cheese, yogurts, bread and pastries. Rooms were all you needed for a few nights stay though maybe a little short on space for a longer stay. Our main grumble was that the bar was rather small - no problem if you are a small party as it easily seats 8 to 10 but we were a large party and it was a slight inconvenience. The staff more than compensated for this - friendly and helpful at all times of the day and night. They booked us a meal for twenty at a nice restaurant on the island and helped with all sorts of other queries. A ten minute walk from the hotel will take you to the Hilton Skyline bar, a great place for cocktails (and free nibbles) while you look out over Venice and watch the cruise ships go by!

Short break

Fantastic staff, beautiful hotel, very clean, good breakfast. Only two points to note, the walls were very thin and the hotel at first was a little difficult to find, a sign on the alley located near the hotel would of been very useful. All in all, very friendly useful staff, would definitely visit again

Perfect solution to a hot summer

If you a obliged to take a holiday at the peak of the busy hot season then the Domina Giudecca Hotel is a great location. Just a short water bus ride away from the mass of tourists in San Marco. In less than 5 or 10 minutes you are on a tranquil island with room to relax and savour the whole backdrop of beautiful Venice. You can dip in and out and see what you want when you want and not be pushed along with the crowds. The hotel is small and although not spectacular from the outside, like many Italian buildings it is tastefully furnished inside with a combination of cool marble modern style blended with wonderful stone pillars and wooden ceiling beams throughout. The conservatory style breakfast area was delightfully unique but a more varied selection of food would have been prefered with a tastier Italian bread rather than rolls. Good coffee machine. It is a shame that there is no outside seating area but the hotel is situated in a small quiet square with benches among the trees. Our stay was enhanced by the warm welcome of Andrea (Boccelli) in reception who, in addition to being an expert on 1970's rock bands was amusing and helpful with all you need to know about Venice. For a 6 day stay the best deal we made was to purchase a 7 day waterbus ticket at 58euros which also included the road bus to and from the airport. It was extremely easy to prebook this on the internet with Hellovenezia and collect the ticket from a machine at the airport.. We more than covered our cost by using it not only for travel around Venice but also for trips out to Morano and Burano which is a must if you have the time. Another 'must visit' is to the Teatro San Gallo which is currently showing a film and a live presentation of the history of Venice. Brilliant. Our previous stay in Venice was in the bitter cold of January when we stayed in another exquisit hotel converted from a former monastery close to the station. We were able to visit all the main attractions without the long queues and were warmed with drinks of hot mulled wine whenever the delicious smell wafted along the streets . Both hotels have been perfect choices for the different times of the year and would be recommended again and again.
