Nearby area is run down, few services, and rather vacant. There is a Turkish themed restaurant just up the street which is about it for evening dinner. Breakfast at the hotel itself was very good. Free parking.
We arrived to find we had no booking. Waiting for my refund

Needs I
We stayed at Wynnstay Arms in Wrexham for 4 nights. First the positives, the staff were top notch and went out of their way to accommodate whenever they could. The hotel was very central to everything and within a 15 minute walk from the train. It was 5 minutes from most restaurants and grocery or anything else. Now the negatives, the hotel is quite dated and in desperate need of upgrades. When we arrived in the room, the poor overworked hotel staff, were trying to get rooms ready while managing everything else. The room needs some sort of fan for air circulation as there was none. A tiny fan on the desk provided the only bit of air. There was no fridge or ice bucket to keep drinks cold which may seem like a luxury but should be a necessity for travellers. The bathroom was also very dated and again had no proper air circulation which made the room that much unbearable. A few minor updates such as fans and some bathroom remodels would do so much to improve the hotel. Also seemed like the staff were forced to be jacks of all trades from bar to front desk and everything else in between.
I stayed with my son for a night. The twin room was ideal and the tv had plenty of channels. We ate in the pub and had really nice food. The room was quiet and we both slept well.
Great hotel, friendly and helpful staff.
Room was clean, comfortable beds. Fan in the room which was a bonus as the weather is beautifully hot at the moment.
Absolutely horrendous hotel wouldn’t want this for my worst enemy, left after seeing the room and refused a refund even though the receptionist stated a refund would be given AVOID

The hotel is in a central position and has free parking.
The staff were friendly and the towels were soft and white.
My room needed refurbishing.
The water pressure was poor to the toilet ,shower and basin. The cold tap lid kept. Coming off and was filthy underneath
The carpet was stained and the WiFi did not work in my room and this was after help from staff.
There was a very noisy fan next to the room( outside) but this went off at 9.30pm after querying this after a poor first night`s sleep.
The curtains in the room were hanging off the rail which also led to poor sleep on the first night but was fixed for the second night`s sleep.
Staff apologised but the manager said that it is an old building so there will be issues.
This is not an acceptable argument especially considering the cost of the stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The property was good for what it was: a 3-star hotel. The good: the bed was clean and comfortable, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the dinner I had there my first night was tasty. They were able to provide me with a fan (was there during a hot time), and the ability to park on-site was terrific.
The not-so-good: The room was small and not clean--dust in the corners, nightstand was sticky around the edges. There were no outlets by the bedside (moved the nightstand to check and found the sticky) and only one outlet that could reasonably be used for charging. The bathroom is outdated: dual taps in the sink with a dodgy stopper, poor lighting, tub grout mouldy. The window didn't stay open--I ended up wedging a tea spoon in the sill to get airflow.
I'm in Wrecsam often and will probably stay again. Just know what to expect going in.
