The hotel was modern, clean and comfortable. Ultimately like any hotel it’s just a building; however, what sets this building apart is the staff. We stayed two nights and from the outset we were made to feel like old returning friends. Special mention goes to restaurant staff Nathan, Bessy and Coulay (I guarantee that I’ve misspelt that), also to night desk staff member Andrew. If I have need of a hotel in Newport again I can’t imagine choosing anywhere else. Great service.

Where do I start.... Checked into room 805 first thing I noticed was the desk was broke, the bed had a hair under the duvet. The toilet holder in the bathroom was loose(thought it was going to fall off at one point). Curtains were dirty and had stains on them. For £168.30 (2 nights) it was nowhere near worth the stay.

Disappointing

On arrival, they told me that their systems were down. This meant a less than smooth check-in experience. The room didn't have a remote control for the television, requiring me to go to reception to ask for one. They said the duty manager would bring it up. After waiting 40 minutes, I had to ask again. Eventually the duty manager brought the remote control. This wasted an hour of my time. Based on signage in the hotel, it seems that the duty manager performs every task and other staff are unable or not allowed to do much. Half board was included in the room rate but due to the system problems, neither reception nor the restaurant provided much clarity on this. The pizza I had was not restaurant quality.
