Convention

Arnhem has no purpose-built convention centre but the Best Western Hotel Haarhuis has two convention rooms, the largest of which can house 2,000 people. The hotel's facilities include Wi-Fi and a golf course. The GelreDome has conference facilities for up to 6,000 people and has housed Davis Cup tennis matches and major music concerts.

Dining

Indonesian and Thai food are very popular in Arnhem. You can choose from a wide variety of restaurants in and near the city centre. Popular restaurants are Rung (Thai), Batavia (Indonesian) and La Rusticana (Italian). Those seeking traditional fare should try the local eateries, known as Arnhemse meisjes.

Shopping

Roggestraat, Ketelstraat, Vijzelstraat and Rijnstraat, or the four major shopping streets of Arnhem, are all connected and close to Arnhem hotels. To the southern part of the city is the Kronenburg shopping mall, offering free parking. There is a big market every Saturday and Wednesday morning in the Kerkplein near the Eusebius church.

Major Points of Interest

Burgers' Zoo and Safari Park is one of the biggest zoos in the Netherlands and contains an aquarium plus desert and jungle areas. Just outside the city, you can visit the Open Air Museum and National Heritage Museum, which is the perfect place to get a glimpse of Dutch history.

Sports

The Vitesse Arnhem football team plays at the GelreDome stadium, which has a retractable roof and a convertible pitch that canbe retracted when when the stadium is used as a concert venue. There are three swimming pools in Arnhem, De Grote Koppel, Valkenhuizen and the open-air Klarenbeek. Join the locals on two wheels by renting a bike at Stationplein but beware, Arnhem is hilly.
