The building was originally a Sugercane factory and the conversion has retained the dark hues and colours making the hotel warm and cosy. Our booking was for family of 4 and we booked into one of the garden pool suites. The package was b&b and came with an upgrade to the “premium service”. I would say the latter is well worth having as it gives you free access to the underground car park, the spa and an upstairs lounge with great views and where you can have breakfast (from a menu) and drinks and snacks. Really made the stay even better. The bedroom & attached lounge was large but had some quirky design issues. Eg the shower had no door or the bedroom was open to the basin area. Ok if there are two of you but needed a bit better planning when 4. This is a great hotel and as it was s not in Funchal (30 min drive) is much more relaxed and a spa.

The ocean view room was fantastic, perfectly positioned with unobstructed views as far as the eye can see. The hotel and room was very modern with a high end luxury feel. We had dinner at Trapiche on the rooftop, and the food was delicious. Would certainly return

Great stay

Had a great stay all the staff were great. We had an upgrade to a suite what was very nice of them. The location was lovely and allowed easy travel to all places. Overall would recommend hotel to anyone, I would also gladly return to this hotel.

Stunning spa hotel

Our hotel was simply amazing! The view from our balcony was stunning and enjoying the sunset from the hotel is really special. We loved the spa and the staff there are wonderful. Also a shout out for the yoga teacher, it was a treat to do yoga outside under the sun looking out to sea.

All of pools were quite cold-- I was sold on this property because it said it had a hot tub. The hot tub was located in the spa area and only accessible for an extra $35/day. Other than that, the property is absolutely stunning and one of a kind. Rooms were very comfortable and modern. Excellent service.

We had a pool suite for a family of 4, and the room was enormous and so luxurious. The bed was very comfortable, and my children said that the sofa bed was too. We absolutely loved the pool on the balcony. Breakfast was very busy, and an amazing number of guests somehow manage to drop food on the floor. The staff were quick to clean it up and replenish the food. We had buffet dinner once and that was really nice. There was a good selection of food that was constantly topped up. The pools were excellent, but it was slightly annoying that other guests hogged the sunbeds by placing towels on them early in the day but didn't go there until later.
