So, I’ve booked the Kinzie before (maybe 2 years ago if so) to celebrate my husbands birthday (staycation) and we were blown away by everything, they even upgraded us for being a VIP on Expedia. This time, horrible. First of they don’t tell you they are doing renovations, which is ok, but the hostess has a very small desk, nothing fancy. It looks like it’s all kind of put together last minute, and that includes the rooms as well. The cleanliness 5/10. The vents were dirty, the bathroom was not properly clean, the showier curtains were so so. It looked like they went to hobby lobby and bought anything that looked like “hotel vibes”. The view of our room was a wall (no one said anything about it- and whenever we asked the host if they were doing room renovations he said no, that those are the normal rooms and they’re been like that since always, which is a lie because I’ve been there before and they have 0 comparison). Overall it was not the best experience and I won’t be staying here anymore.

The staff was very friendly and the bed was comfortable. The room was nice enough except for the horribly stained ottoman and couch. The lobby (check-in was a makeshift desk) and elevator waiting area was under construction which I was not forewarned about and only 1 elevator was working the entire time (on St. Patties day weekend) which made the wait times longer than anticipated. I paid extra for a "city view" and that mainly consisted of a roof level view full of old and unsightly A/C units and a tiny bit of city view if I looked to the sides. When I emailed my concerns with the room, I never received a response back of any kind. I made do and the bed was comfortable enough to get a good nights sleep but past that I would not recommend this hotel until they get a few things under control.

Only 1 working elevator on what was one of the busiest weekends in the city was wild. At one point we timed a 5 minute wait for the elevator. And stairs were not an option bc they only open on the 1st floor to a creepy alleyway. Besides that, all the staff were plesant, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Being so close to the HoB makes this our go to hotel when seeing concerts.

Perfectly located and affordable. Met all our needs for 2 nights in the heart of Chicago. Walkable to all the touristy spots. Mag mile, the river walk. Staff Trang and Demetrius both went above and beyond and made our stay a delight. Will def recommend Kinzie and will stay again!

I was not pleased with my stay or room… It said “city view” but the hotel was not even that high so you could not even have a “CITY VIEW” when you can’t see anything! Don’t waste money on a city view room, it is not worth it!

I love the Kinzie. It offers boutique lux at the best price point & bang for your buck for River North. Hot breakfast can be included, has enough options to satisfy most needs. They have a free happy hour, good way to meet travelers and pre-party! The beds are really comfortable and bedding/comforter is plush soft. It’s been quiet every time I stay. Staff is friendly. This is my go to hotel when I travel to Chicago.
