We really slept in a castle

Charming and cosy castle with a lot of rooms to explore. There was an endless collection of antiques. Overall very clean.

Our two teenage daughters, got to live out there princess dreams! Ask reception how to get into the tower - it’s a hike, but the view is amazing! The castle is generally a little rundown (but nothing that ruins the grandeur of this once stately home) Both our rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean! Based on reviews, we had decided not to have dinner at the castle, but there are some cute options near. We did have breakfast and it was excellent, with everything you may need to start the day with a full stomach - we took her out to sit in the gardens. There was a lovely free feeling to being able to roam the property and gardens. If you’re traveling through Fyn, I would add this as a stop (it was our daughter‘s favorite part of the trip)

Furnishing in general rooms were fabulous. Electrical outlets in our room did not work. Person in charge brought new lightbulbs and extension cords. Wiring definite Y needs updating. Our shower had black mold. The biggest issue was guests not allowed to use eleva5or and NO help around to help older Expletive lug bags up 2 flights of stairs. Breakfast was adequate. Not recommended for any one over 50.

Vi boede i Æblehuset, som ligger for sig selv bag slottet. Det er et fint lille hus med plads til 4 personer og kæledyr er tilladt. Der er lille køkken med spisebord og et ok badeværelse. Vi var ikke inde på slottet.

Vi havde lejet æblehuset, der var 14 grader i det lille hus. Tvet var i stykker. Huset lå et stykke fra slottet og vi skulle i byen derfor blev der ikke klaget straks men struet op for varmen ogvså i byen. At tvet var i stykke opdagede vi først da vi kom tilbage kl 22. Da personalet blev gjort opmærksom på problemerne beklagede den unge pige og der skete intet

Vi bestilte værelse dagen før vores ankomst. Vi ankom til et helt tomt slot, udover den i øvrigt meget elskværdige kok, der tog i mod os. Vi var de eneste gæster på slottet. Indtjekningen gik smertefrit. Værelset var OK; sådan lidt “shabby chic’t”. Kokken havde tilberedt os et lækkert måltid. Efter at have serveret os dette, havde hun fri. Vi var nu alene på slottet. Ingen bar, ingen knitrende pejs, man kunne varme sig ved og vi havde ikke fået information om evt. andre faciliteter vi kunne benytte os af TV’et på værelset var vi ikke i stand til at få liv i. Vi var overladt til os selv, vores mobiltelefoner og den flaske hvidvin og kande kaffe, kokken sørgede for, inden hun gik. Næste morgen var kokken tilbage og havde fået selskab af en receptionist. Jeg vil gerne fremhæve personalet, der var søde og imødekommende. Jeg ville bare ønske at vi havde fået at vide, at vi ikke ville få den oplevelse, vi havde forventet. Så havde vi fundet et andet sted.

Den kvindelige ansatte, der modtog os i receptionen på slotshotel Hvedholm udviste meget lille interesse for vores ankomst. Vi blev spurgt, om vi havde besøgt Hvedholm før, men selv om svaret var nej, fik vi udelukkende oplysning om, hvor vi skulle finde vores værelse. På værelset viste det sig, at der ikke var rengjort på det tilknyttede badeværelse (brudesuiten), og henvendelsen til samme kvindelige ansatte desangående blev modtaget uengageret med svar om, at hun ville sende rengøringen op. Rengøringspersonalet beklagede den tydeligt manglende rengøring, men det var så, hvad der kom ud af det. Meget utilfredsstillende! Især når jeg har betalt for et værelse ud over standard. Under middagen i slotshotellets restaurant bestod aftenens hovedret af oksefilet med kartoffelmos og lidt andre grøntsager plus brun sauce. Både oksefilet og kartoffelmos var smagløs, så vores oplevelse af en hovedret på slotshotel Hvedholm er meget skuffende. Vores samlede oplevelse gør, at vi ikke anbefaler et ophold på slotshotel Hvedholm til andre.
