What a bummer! I stayed in Hilo, hoping to be off the beaten track from other more well visited spots on the island. This hotel easily seemed to be the highest ranked in the area. I instantly regretted my decision. There's no way my stay was worth its value. My first room had a ton of bugs visible on the ceiling, near our bed, and in our sink. It clearly had plenty of deferred maintenance. Service was just fine and friendly, and they changed our room without any dispute m. However, in our second room, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and very worn as if the options in the bed were to sleep in a pit or in the center on a hump. A couch could be more comfortable than this. Holes in the curtains, lots of swelling in the wallpaper throughout indicating moisture, the outside chairs were very damaged and I was a little worried about even sitting on them. Also, the non stop music from fishing on the nearby public bridge hardly made for a peaceful ocean front viewing experience. I'll stop there. You get the picture. Fair to say that the management team should invest some of what is very a healthy room rate into the rooms. Check for recent reviews in hopes of improvements or stay elsewhere. But hopefully it turns around.

Location is good and convenient, but the facilities are quite old. The sink drainage was not smooth, and the lighting in the room was dim and yellow, WiFi didn't work. I’m very sensitive to lighting and felt uncomfortable staying in such a dark room, so I moved to the Hilton next door instead.

The young man that checked me in gave us a worst room on the third floor without a balcony looking out on the dirty roof; I prepaid for the room with an ocean view; the pictures showed a balcony. When I came back asking, about discrepancy he told me that I have to pay an extra $30 to be upgraded. The hotel was half empty and there are only a few rooms that do not have a balcony. Very unhappy with check in. The breakfast was bad, eggs benedict came with salad dressing instead hollandaise, ham was very salty - never had such bad breakfast. The beds were comfortable and the view is beautiful, but overall experience was not good. Such a shame!

Room had stained walls and furniture. Hole in sheets. Friendly staff in convenient location but hotel and area are in transition. Tired furnishing in rooms, outdated literature directs one to a happy hour that no longer exists. Noisy construction next door that began at 8am. Few options for one night stay in area. Area had many homeless and a mix of maintained and closed hotels. View of bay is fantastic and near beautiful garden.

Location was great. Breakfast at the steakhouse was good. The property overall needs updating. Furniture, carpeting, and paint is worn. The room was not very clean. Had 4 adults registered for the room and had to ask for more than 2 sets of towels every time housekeeping came through.

There are more than a dozen hairs on the sheets of both beds, and there are also many hairs on the duvet covers. It is very obvious that the room was not properly cleaned — the sheets and duvet covers were not changed and were simply re-made. This is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable. I contacted the front desk, and the staff said they would report it to the manager, but the housekeeping staff has already left for the day. I requested a room change, but the front desk told me the hotel was fully booked. They only provided two bed sheets and did nothing else to address the issue. This does not resolve the problem. The room was not properly cleaned or sanitized, and being asked to change the sheets myself is not acceptable for a hotel of this standard. I am very disappointed with this level of service and expect proper housekeeping service, full linen replacement for all bedding, and appropriate compensation for this unacceptable experience.

The hotel has a very good location and a good view if you get a balcony room, but the rest are disappointing. They claim they do housekeeping every 2 days, which I am fine with. But in reality, no housekeeping was done in 2 days. When I asked them to do it, the front desk was rude, said he will call the service team, and "what else do you want?!" The service team member came and gave us two sets of towels, and that's it. No removal of trash and used towels. No restocking of shampoo, toilet paper. I had to ask again on the 3rd day for the housekeeping to take place. The room has a faint smell of smoke even though this is a smoke-free hotel. On Christmas Eve, the power went out. Granted it was not the hotel's fault, but the way they panicked without a plan was annoying on top of the power outage. The food at the restaurant was OK. The food at the lounge was salty and service was very slow. The pool looked old, so we didn't even try. Would not recommend.
