Cool hotel with old school period decor. Big rooms. An older building for sure but we liked it. Walking distance to a mall and Tim Hortons.

The first room we were given smelled strongly of cigar smoke. The replacement room was better but the air was stale. Fortunately there are opening windows which saved the day. Clean was average but the bed was very soft. All in all the place, especially the bed could do with a refresh. Nevertheless, I would go back because of the price and the lovely Scotch bar.

Nice stay with convenient location.

It is an older hotel, but the rooms were very spacious and we did not hear any neighbours beside us, which was nice. We appreciated the refrigerator and the toiletries provided. It was nice to have parking included as well.

If you love places with history and soul, this hotel is a dream. The antique wooden architecture gives the space a warm, welcoming feeling the moment you step inside. It’s impeccably clean and lovingly maintained, with a beautiful garden that feels like something out of a storybook. Every room oozes character and vintage details—and it’s clear this place has seen many lives over the years. And yes... it’s definitely haunted. Not in a scary way, but in that subtle, goosebumps-on-your-neck, "did someone just walk past me?" kind of way. It just adds to the charm, honestly. If you're looking for a clean, cozy stay with personality (and maybe a little paranormal intrigue), this spot is unforgettable.

Not a great value...needs some upgrades.

We had booked for 4, the sofa for our children was a jack knife couch that had ot been vacuumed, so it was full of crumbs for them to sleep on, they had been given 1 pillow and a felt blanket. We asked the front desk to have the bed vacuumed and they said they would bring sheets up and would make up the bed. When we returned the sheets had been dropped off and the bed had not been vacuumed. We went down to the front desk and told the desk. They were concerned they would have to leave the desk unattended, but did find a vacuum to clean the sofa, we had to make up the bed. I called to ask if the TV had access to Netflix, the person laughed and said of course not. It says on hotels.com thereis a relaxing pool, but it was locked up and empty. We got an air matress for the 10 year old to sleep on because the sofa does not fit 2 people. I asked how to turn on the jacuzzi tub, the desk told me none of them are functioning in the hotel. They did let us check in early and waved the fee. Front desk evening woman was very nice...but all alone. The room aside from all that was nice, but not worth the $380ish we were charged on the website.

Its at a convenient location. The surrounding area is clean but the rooms have stained and dirty carpets which are smelly. No water filter. The hallways smell a lot. The underground parking lot is dirty.

The property was unique with its feel and memorabilia from the British era. Also the size of the room and how wonderfully quiet it was: we couldn't hear our neighbours at all! Wonderfully thick, cozy coverings on the bed. Room felt clean, and the deep tub was awesome! Overall a very pleasan experience. My only complaints for the room... Could have used a footstool and better/brighter lighting. Complaints in regards to the hotel... Offering some type of breakfast during the weekdays would be convenient, and longer hours for the whisky bar and restaurant.

Best hotel for the price in Namaimo

This is a very nice hotel in a convenient location. We like to e-bike and the hotel is a half kilometer from two bike trails that parallel highways 19 and 19A. We biked the N&L Trail, Nanaimo Parkway Trail and a few connector trails, about 45 km. There are plenty of places to eat within a lm of the hotel. The staff even provided a safe place to store our bikes overnight. It was so nice and convenient we stayed 3 nights. It’s also close to the ferry terminal for the ferry to Horseshoe Bay.
