The Oakes is a very nice hotel and the staff was pleasant and easy to speak with during our stay. The concierge, Joe, was very helpful with getting our luggage and providing information. Had several general conversations with him as well. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed to learn that the property began charging guests for parking since a previous visit. Don't think the hotel should be charging guests for this item while residing at the location, especially as room prices (due to tourism or inflation) continue to rise. Have definitely preferred this hotel, however, compared to others primarily because staff are much more cordial, helpful, and respectful. As long as guests show respect toward them then guests are more likely to have requests fulfilled in a timely matter.

Well overall experience was nice, the view and closeness to the fall is the best part. Facilities are a bit older, the pictures might have been a little too kind. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of great dining areas around.

Moved to Hilton

At the time time of check in they told me that my booking was moved to Hilton which was nearby. When I went into the room in Hilton it had only 2 queen beds. My booking was for a room with 3 queen beds. Person at reception told me that they don't have room with 3 beds however they can arrange for rollover bed. Which I refused. There were 6 people in my family and considering that I had done booking for 3 beds. I asked him to send me back to oaks. Finally he arranged me a room with 2 king beds and a pull out sofa bed. The room was good and we enjoyed our stay. However doing all this there was waste of time.

The cost of parking was never mentioned in the reservation or process until we were checking in. Unacceptable. Then told it was $50/night and the least expensive in similar hotels. Saw while walking around lots close by that were 15-20$ overnight.
