Nice place to stay.

Although there was remodeling going on in the lobby, The Maverick was a nice place to stay. It was very reasonably priced, and had a self-check in process that worked very smoothly. We loved that it is a remodeling of the old TMCA Building. The room was clean and stylish, with a nice bathroom and shower, and also an old claw-footed bathtub in the living area. Our only minor concern was that it was difficult to get out of both sides of the bed, a problem for elderly visitors like us.

We had booked another hotel nearby, but it lost power due to a crazy storm a couple days ago. We were forced to find a new place for our stay and the Maverick was one of the few with rooms available. Hotel is ok. I have stayed in worse, but definitely been in better places for less money. The self check in is a little clunky, but not horrible. The building is an old YMCA that is in a decent location. There are a few restaurants within a five minute walk. Whe. We stayed here, the lobby bar cafe was still under construction. Rooms were weird. Definitely felt like a dorm room in a way...fitting the YMCA vibe. Bed was not very comfortable but the hotel was quiet. I think if we had paid $150-200 for this hotel, it would have seemed fine. Due to the last minute circumstances of our booking and the fact that there were big events happening in the city, we paid a lot more. Definitely not worth what we did pay as it is not a premium hotel. It did the trick in a pinch, though.

After a very long horrible day, and stressful weeks, walking into this room almost made cry from the beauty, perfection of size and taste. I finally slept after a long time of no rest during a stressful event. They are currently making, what looks like to be a beautiful bar, I cannot wait to see it!

Stayed after losing power from weather. Check in was virtual and challenging. Took 20 minutes to get sorted and then when I got to the room the door code was also delayed. No hot water in the evening. Bed was comfortable. Hot water in am. There is no staff on-site.

Online check in was super easy and convenient. Our room was clean and super nice, just as pictured. Some construction going on in lobby area but didn’t affect our stay and was super quiet up in our room! Parking was easy in lot right next door, and we were able to get everywhere within short walks or minimal driving. Would stay again and recommend!

Quiet and Cozy

I've stayed here twice now and it is officially my go-to stay for Pittsburgh. It's always quiet, clean, and I enjoy the virtual check in process. It's conveniently located just outisde of the main city, but close enough to plenty of walkable restaurants and stores.
