I was unhappy that i payed for a double bed and got two singles pushed together,allso on the last day ,went to dry my hair and the hair dryed didnt work,allso had to pay for tea and coffee,i explained to the reception about the hair dryed and was told to hold the button down,there were no signes to inform of this,the private taxi i payed for was not there at arrivals and transfer home ,came early and picking others up,i was not happy at all.

Good value for money

On arrival I was met by a crowd of young males outside the hotel obviously on their way out. My heart sank as I wondered what I had come to. I was informed by the lovely man checking me in that the hotel had a booking of about 30 Swiss students aged about 18 and 19yrs. They were very rowdy and noisy and unfortunately the staff did not seem able to deal with them appropriately, despite having a security person there overnight. I was disturbed greatly by them returning at 3am until about 6am when they eventually settled down after spending hours shouting and screaming to each other and banging every door possible. I was aware they were there for the majority of my visit and so in the morning I attended reception and asked if they could move me. The staff were extremely apologetic and accommodating and I was moved to the other side of the hotel (actually the sister hotel next door) and upgraded free of charge to a double room as there were no similar rooms available. There was no hesitation in offering this to me and although I was still disturbed by the kids over my visit, it was not as bad and I felt the staff had done everything they could to try and resolve this for me. I think because of the cheap price of the hotel and it's proximity to the New and Old towns, this could well be a hotel used by young people and this was not a one off experience. This is a shame because the rest of the visit was excellent. The room was spacious and clean with everything you could require. Tea and coffee was charged for which was unusual but it was not a problem as I had taken some of my own anyway. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean with an efficient shower. The staff were friendly and approachable and willing to assist with any questions. I tried the breakfast on one morning but it was not the best I have ever experienced. I do not think it was worth the £6 I was charged for it and I did not return the next 2 mornings, finding my own as I went exploring. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Wenceslas Square and approximately 25-30 mins walk to the Old town. There is a metro station just 8-10 mins away which will get you to any of the tourist places easily, although I did not use it myself, preferring to walk everywhere. Overall I was pleased with my choice as it was excellent value for money.

Some room for improvement

I was on a city break with my other half and wanted a budget friendly place to stay near the centre. For the most part the Amigo hotel ticked all the boxes. However on arrival- thinking I had already settled all costs, I was told I had to leave a 1,000czk deposit for the mini bar which I knew we wouldn't use. I was not made aware of this hotel policy as it was not in the policies mentioned in my booking confirmation. Trying to have a cheap city break this took a huge chunk out of our spending money within 5 minutes of arriving. I also don't understand why tea and coffee isn't complementary in an apparently 4* hotel? Being placed on the top floor meant we had sky lights instead of windows with no curtains, meaning my partner and I were up as soon as the sun was. Other than this our stay was comfortable and pleasant. Staff were reasonably nice and the room was clean

Fantastic for my family

Good price, fair! Good breakfast and close to the metro and also by foot was not far away from downtown. I recommend..
