Hawthorne Hotel
4/5 Good
"Cute historic hotel, great for walking around Salem. We were there one night for a conference. Calvin at the front desk was great—helpful and informative. We also ate at The Tavern while we visited for a quick bite and drink.
Overall, the hotel was very clean, reasonably priced, and the staff was great. One thing to note: it seemed like they may have been painting somewhere on our floor—you could smell the paint, which is likely why the windows were wide open. Unfortunately, it was absolutely freezing up there, and that cold air seemed to trickle into our room. We did ask for extra blankets, and they provided them.
The water in the shower also never got warm. It was definitely a chilly New England day while we were there, so a warm shower would have been great. We waited for it to heat up, but it never really did, so we unfortunately couldn’t take a proper shower"
