We stayed at Hotel Contessa in San Antonio to celebrate our anniversary. The location is very convenient, and the hotel itself is nice. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom is a good size. We had a city-view room, and even though it’s on what’s considered the quieter side of the River Walk, it wasn’t very quiet. Loud people outside and passing cars woke us up a couple of times during the night.
The hotel restaurant was okay but overpriced for what it offers. We ended up having breakfast at a place about a block away called Shiloh’s, which had very good food at much more reasonable prices.
One downside of our stay was the front desk experience. I didn’t feel very acknowledged by the staff, and check-in felt rushed and impersonal. We were simply handed the key cards without any welcome, explanation, or even being told our room number.
Overall, it’s a good place to stay, but based on our experience, I would probably try a different hotel next time.
