Disappointing

We booked a room on Sat May the 3rd, 2025. When arriving to the property we were greeted with was a newish look of the front of the hotel. Parking lot was rough but giving its spring. We got checked and immediately upon entering the room we noticed a very musty smell. We put our bags down near the bed and with a closer look noticed that the carpet had mold spores so we removed our bags and put them on a chair. Open up the curtains to reveal a train yard, a grass area polluted with cigarettes and garbage and A SEALED patio door with a sign that was posted ( patio door sealed for our safety) ??? In case of fire we cant open it? The more we looked the more we found, within 5 min of being there my ŵife who is asmatic had a reaction. I futher inspected the bathroom which visibly could see the entire bottom shower had blqck mold. I immediately called xalled front desk and requested her presence to inspect and confirm. AISHA, acknowledged that it was mold, the edge of carpeted room was absolutely dusty and moldy. Cob webs and dust around the bed. The walls were in rough shape as well as some of the furnishings. We immediately requested another room only to be told were out. So we cancelled and requested a refund based on health and safety issues. Why is there a missing smoke detector? We evn found left over ice cream in the fridge. Really disappointed in this property lack of care is evident.

Overall, it is a pleasant place to stay. The rooms are decent, nothing special honestly. There is major construction going on near the lobby (restaurant) so it is a bit messy and inconvenient. The area immediately near the hotel is somewhat sketchy. There is no elevator between the 2 floors, so if stairs are a problem for you, request a main floor room. Staff provided a nice (surprise) goodie bag at check in, and were very helpful in asking multiple times if we needed help with our luggage.

This place has the BEST breakfast i have ever had at a hotel. Its incredible. The front staff are excellent! The hotel itself is a bit tired, but our room was clean. The front staff and the tremendous breakfast will keep me coming back whenever im in Sudbury.

Property is under construction. Hopefully for some much needed upgrading. Furniture in room was extremely worn down and the coffee maker has a water reservoir with standing water left it in with mildew growing on the container. Not a very hygienic choice for a hotel facility.

I had to get our room card re-activated twice during our stay. This is very annoying when you need to get to your room and then have to wait in line while people are checking in just to get your card fixed. Other than that everything was good, Dining was excellent and price is great.

The staff was lovely and the room was clean, big, and very comfortable. Great breakfast too. There was some noise from construction in the parking lot but other than that it was a great place at a great price.
