The hotel is in the early stages of a complete refurbishment. Wherever you look every wall, ceiling, door needs painting. The carpets are dangerous. Our room was cleaned just once during our four-day stay. The TV never worked. Some of the staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful, others made Manuel from Fawlty Towers look good. Breakfast each day was a disaster - service very slow, coffee undrinkable, food not properly cooked. We shall not return or recommend this hotel.

The bar staff in the evening were great, and the evening meal from the Indian menu at the hotel was lovely. As a hotel though, it was very disappointing. At check in, we were given a key and told the room was upstairs. The room itself was dusty, half the sockets did not work, the bathroom mouldy and musty-smelling. The paintwork tired and tatty and badly finished off. We had a tea tray but no kettle. Asked for a kettle, but it never appeared. No wifi. Parking was on street, and a free-for-all. It's marketed as a haunted hotel, but there isn't any information there - I would have been interested to learn the history. Our room door didn't lock well. Breakfast was served between 9 and 10, which is quite a late slot for those wanting to make the most of their holiday time. There was noone around when I checked out so couldn't provide feedback then. All in all, the bed was comfy and the hotel's strength lies in the Indian restaurant. Having paid £100 a night, the hotel was a diaappointment and I wouldn't recommend it.

Keep well away rooms and decor well outdated in room bath panel held on with duct tape toilet not safe to sit on /tv didnt work /pillars old and yellow/beds very old and hard stayed in lots of hotels with work in vietnam/india/thailand some of these on budget end and this is the worst hotel i have stayed in paid extra for the suite wot a joke for £160 towel and small block of soap again stay away

A fabulous historic building...

A great value place to stay in the fab village of Alnmouth. The owner Martin is a great guy and will do anything to please.

Great value

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel. It is perfectly located with some great sea views. The building is tired in places but represents amazing value. A very friendly and helpful owner. Looking forward to the outside area and room upgrades being completed.

Great location and good sized room

This hotel is only a 2 minute walk to a fab beach. We were kindly offered complimentary drinks upon arrival. The room was a good size and very clean with sea views. The hotel is tired in general and could do with some de cluttering. Breakfast was good although service was very stretched with poor organisation. Overall it's a nice hotel in a great spot. I think it's expensive for what it is and suggest a rate of £80 per night is more appropriate.

Hotel ok. Food poor.

Took almost an hour from ordering food to being served. Hotel was not that busy at the time. One meal was served then the other three. First person had almost finished before the others were served.

The hotel was shabby and dirty. In the room dirty carpet, toilet flush did not work properly, not enough towels, broken facilities. Buffet for breakfast was dirty: sticky tables, dirty crockery and cutlery. Far too expensive for what has been provided. Even the business card that we got was sticky.
