Room was spacious but figured out that our room was special needs room which we didn’t request for. Disappointed about the parking as we were not told that we have to pay and pre- book the car park. Receptionist was kind enough to get us a parking spot but we had to pay around $40 per day.

The room was fine, though not what I thought I was getting when I booked. The interaction I had with staff was helpful. Considering the options around parking at $35 per night is over the top, they could be looking after their guests a bit better. On the whole it met my needs though I may look at other options next time.

We arrived around 9pm to check in and were asked for a credit card and photo ID. Without warning, the receptionist scanned and photocopied both my passport and credit card, which immediately raised alarm bells. When I questioned it, she said she’d delete the scanned email, but I found the whole thing very concerning and unprofessional — there’s no reason to copy full card details instead of using a secure chip-and-pin system. The air conditioning in our room was also broken. Despite calling reception three times during the night, we were told it was controlled remotely and they’d try to fix it, but it never worked. The next day, with the room temperature sitting above 26°C, we called again and were finally moved to a new room where the AC worked properly. The area around Queen Street felt a bit rough at night, with quite a few homeless people about, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. We did appreciate being offered a free late check-out until 11am, but overall, this wasn’t a pleasant stay. I wish we’d read other reviews beforehand — seems we weren’t the only ones to face AC issues and other unusual problems here.
